My enthusiasm at the moment is slightly tempered by the fact that I feel like vomiting all the time and watching food isn't that great because I can't even think about what it would taste like without feeling sick but I'm looking forward to this year nonetheless!
There's someone I know in the top 50 - Hadn't realised he was going for it at all, and in retrospect realised I hadn't seen him for a while at any jobs, but I don't know when it was all filmed.
He's the brother of Craig from last year (the cellist from Queensland) and is also a musician. I knew he was very keen on food but didn't realise it went that far! I'm pretty sure he won't get through to the top 24 though because they haven't shown much of him and didn't even show his audition round.
Favourites so far - the Egyptian/Korean girl, the one who made the amazing Tamarind Short Ribs, the Canadian bloke with the chipped tooth, the girl who dropped her chicken (it looked so good, and she obviously knows what she's doing). I want a bowl of the black pepper crab that someone cooked in the audition round. That would get me out of bed in the morning
I would love to see how Jen from MKR would do in this competition - annoyingness aside, I thought she was an absolute genius in the kitchen

I thought the guy who chipped his tooth was great just had a laugh about it and got on with it.

I really hope Yukio gets an apron, he is so keen for one! And he's always whooping and generally just acting very excited! He would be good to have on the show.

Am I the only one who thinks the Canadian guy is hot?
Yeah felt a bit sorry for the pavlova guy from the other night. I loved the tart Audra made..my god it looked delicious!
I'm in two minds about Yukio. He looks like he will crumble under pressure...or burst into tears!
Great to see a diverse mix of people.
Last night's show - I had no idea that's how you made butter. Well I knew it was cream, but I didn't know you had to dunk it in iced water to get rid of the buttermilk. You learn something new every day!

Also loving the Egyptian/Korean girl I think she will be fab in this and I hope she goes a good way through this competition. Yukio, as someone said, I am not sure about...he seems to REALLY want it so I want it for him but I do think I could end up wanting to kill him in fairly quick time as he looks like he could get pretty annoying
I missed last nights show but that chocolate tart the other night just looked divine. I'm trying to lose weight at the moment so I've been avoiding all sweets & treats lately....I was literally drooling in front of the telly at that one!

Apart from Glee, it's the only show I watch and I hang out for it every year.
I don't know who I like yet. I usually don't start picking a favourite until the top 24.

I was annoyed at Filippo though - I understand he was completely thrown off his plan by something that was largely out of his hands, but there were a lot of things he could have done in 44 minutes. He had plenty of time to make a beautiful floating island for example (poached meringues floating in a creme anglaise) with the gorgeous fruit that he had, or just something else custardy! He could have made a clafoutis in that time too, if it was done in an individual ramekin.
I'm not convinced about the Salmon challenge - I think some people got through who may not be better cooks than others who ultimately don't make it through. I think fair enough if it's someone's choice to not participate in the challenge, but having the knife-pull means that there could have been 6 people who would have done better dishes who just happened to draw blank knives.
I'd love to learn to fillet a fish properly, but it's such an expensive product that I would never just buy one to maybe butcher it I should get some snapper or trout and try with that first I guess. I couldn't believe how badly a few of them did with it though - the guy who left most of the meat on the fish!!
I thought the salmon consommé would taste awful - I'm really surprised they liked it and I'd love to have a taste because all I can come up with in my mind is some kind of insipid fishy water

Gawd my brain has gone....
May I add, oh those poor salmon.. made me want to cry..
I watch as much as I can (it's on at an awkward time for dinner/baths etc here). I have a very loose connection to one of the contestants (Andy, the guy who split his pants!) but no clear favourites yet. The high school teacher with the abysmal 80's glasses annoys me, as does anyone who has cried already, other than tears of happiness. The dessert looked really yummy tonight; I'd be stoked to get something like that at a restaurant.
