It doesn't take me much to start jabbering on about our dog, so here goes:

What sort of pet(s) do you have;
We have a 15 year old female dog, Puffy. She is a Boston terrier crossed with a Lhasa apso. And she's very unusual looking.

How did you end up getting your pet;
Puffy is actually DH's family dog. MIL walked past a pet store and it was love at first sight. I met Puffy when she was about 2 or 3. We've since taken full care for her a few years ago. I've thought of her as my own dog since early on, and hopefully she sees me as family as well!

What are your pet(s) nicknames;
Poofy, bear dog (when she has her bear expression), rabbit dog (when she has her rabbit expression), piglet (she can be a total guts), wan chan (japanese word for doggie).

What do you love the most about your pet(s)
She's a loving dog with a huge personality. She loves to be near us but doesnt like us in her face all the time. She has many facial expressions which I swear I can interpret smile.gif. I swear we have similar personalities and we like the same food (including the jam drop biscuits she stole out of my bag when i wasnt looking yesterday!!). She knows when I'm sad or upset and comes to comfort me, and yet likes a good rough play as well. Oh, and she runs in her sleep (DH says she's chasing rabbits), which we find hilarious. She really is excellent company. And most importantly, she's still going strong despite being 15 years old blush.gif

Show us your favourite photo(s) of your pet(s)
I have plenty of great pics, but here she is looking out the car window like a queen:

And here she is chilling at the beach:

What sort of pet(s) do you have;
We have 2 cats. Boys from the same litter they are mixed breed rescue kittens, their mother was British Blue colouring etc but becuase she was rescued we have no real clue as to their heritage. Mercury (DH is a big fan of Queen) is all black apart from a white patch on his chest and Bailey (I refused to have Freddie & Mercury!!) is black & white all over.

How did you end up getting your pet;
Coming from a household that had always had pets I missed them when I moved out to live with DH but we were renting and he had never had pets before so he was reluctant. In the end we got them when I was going through depression in the hopes that they would aid in my recovery and they did wub.gif

What are your pet(s) nicknames;

Mercury gets Merky or Merkles or Rumble King cos he just has the most amazing purr and it only takes some eye contact or a word to him and it starts the motor laugh.gif

Bailey gets Bailes or Kitten becuase he never developed his big boy voice and so he still squeaks like a bubba when he meows!

They both get Monkey cos they can be trouble at times rolleyes.gif

What do you love the most about your pet(s)
For both of them I have loved watching DH go from being so scared he was going to hurt them or do something wrong that he was afraid to pick them up to having them fight over who gets his lap or when they were kittens both cuddling on there together.

Individually I love that Mercury is a 'face' cat. He love to rub heads and always wants to see your face, he will rarely sit on you lap as his prefer cuddle spot is to climb up your chest and have you support his bum so he can put his front paws over your shoulder. This was he can snuggle in nice and close, he is free to rub his head on your chin whenever he fancies and just sits there rumbling in your ear. I also love that he is always up for a cuddle, you can pick him up from what ever he may be doing and he is happy to give you a cuddle there and then with no fuss. He also likes to 'tuck us in' at night wub.gif he recognises the getting ready for bed signs and will hop up and wait for us to be in bed with the lights off before he toddles off to do his own thing.

Bailey is a different boy altogether. Cuddles are very much on his own terms. Even when he is pacing around the couch meowing and you KNOW he wants a lap if you pick him up and put him there he will instantly jump off again even if it is just to come back of his own accord and sit on you a couple of minutes later rolleyes.gif Yet whenever we come home he greets us like we have been gone for weeks (rather than a few hours) following us round the house yelling at the top of his voice and trying to trip us up in his attempts to rub himself round out ankles. This will go on for a good 5-10 mins until he is satisfied. His brother however just waits for us to come and find him.

Helsbels - my first cat looked very similar to your Mercury, she also had a little white patch on her belly. She was a real cuddler as well - like to be held up to your chest - she used to knead like crazy and suck on woolen jumpers etc and leave little holes.

I love reading about everyone's pets. It's amazing how important animals can be to our lives isn't it.

When DH and I bought our house 6 and half years ago we had a couple of pets we wanted to get. We both wanted a dog, he wanted a rainbow lorikeet and I wanted a cat.

We got all three within the first few months.

Sadly, Bella our beautiful chocolate lab died last week. She got into snail bait in our garage (one of the rare times the door was open and one of the rare times we were both out all day). We have been absolutely devastated by her loss. The house and backyard feels so empty without her.

She was a labrador, so a big dog as you can imagine but so very gentle with the boys and with the other animals. She thought she was a lapdog and if I ever sat down on the floor with her she saw it is an invite to climb on my lap.

Ebony - our little black cat. I saw her in a petshop window the week we bought Bella home. SHe was one of three little black balls of fluff and I stopped to look at them and considered getting them (before I knew anything about the issues with buying from petshops). I didn't because I wanted to ask DH but he was away. SO two days later when I walked past again there was just one little black cat remaining, I decided it must be a sign and called DH and told him I was bringing home a cat! For the first couple of years she was a handful - she talked constantly, ran around the house at midnight jingling her bell and attacked me if I wore anything that looked like it might 'swish'. She has calmed down now into a gentle, friendly cat who tolerates the boys quite well - though not so far as to be carried around by the neck!

Rastus the rainbow lorikeet - He was very attached to DH and to my dad. He was so much fun - I never knew how entertaining loris could be. He was in perfect health right up until the day my dad came over and found him dead in his aviary. One day when the boys are old enough to handle a bird safely we'd love to get another one.

Chickens - we have six isa brown chickens that have their own shed and run but sometimes free range around the garden. They follow the boys around looking for food and I quite enjoy just sitting out there watching them dig up the soil.

I would be all day if I gave big responses for our lot.

What sort of pet(s) do you have;
DSH - Oscar - 11yrs
DSH - Matilda - 7yrs
Mini Foxie - Joey - 10yrs
Maltese x Poodle - Thomas - possibly 8/9/10yrs
Budgie - Lennox - 6yrs
Budgie - Mia - 3yrs
Ryukin (fish) - Fatso - 4yrs
Rat - Nessa - 1ish
Rat - Loki - Less than 1ish
Australorp x - Clara - 20weeks
Leghorn x - Nora - 20weeks
Rhode Island Red x - Rosie - 20weeks

For some reason I think I am missing someone.

How did you end up getting your pet;
Oscar - A friends friend's cat had kittens way back when I was living in hell and this little man was living his own hell as well. He came home with me and we have been together ever since. He is the reason I am alive today, literally.

Matilda - She was found in a box in my yard when living near a major shopping centre in Brisbane. We have never really connected and I hate that but I just dont like her really.

Joey - Came as a joint package with DH. He however straight away decided that he was the love of my life and has taken to nipping at DH when he (Jo) is having cuddles with me.

Thomas - This man was an RSPCA rescue. We didnt really know what he was and only knew he had Maltese in him. Whoever decided breeding Malts with poodles was a great idea... they are an idiot! He has the worst coat and combine that with the fact that he was abused with a brush his coat must be chopped off either at the groomers or by me and a pair of scissors.
Thomas came into our lives a few months after my baby girl Tully left us.

Budgies - Lennox I cant even remember now but he was lonely thats why I came home with Mia... she is twice his size but they love each other.

Rats - I used to breed and (embaressed) show rats many many years ago and I had been missing having one for a long time. I saw a tiny little girl who reminded me of one of my old girls and well she somehow ended up in my hands and home with us. She was needing more interaction as we are both at work all day (and we have most things in pairs) so little miss Loki came home several months later and the 2 bonded like you wouldnt believe. Love each other like sisters.

Fatso - My husbands baby. This fish has survived a house move, many many MANY fish dying around him (including 2 yesterday) but this fish just keeps on going and going and going. He/it is huge now compared to the tiny little thing he was when we got him years ago. Hubby will be very very upset if anything were to happen to him.

Chickens - My girls came home with me about 2 weeks ago and I adore them.

What are your pet(s) nicknames;

Ossy, fatty, cheesymite, fattybobatty, smoochy
Milly, Mil, bitch
Jo Jo, stinky, poo bum, pumpkin, baby, cuddle monster, Joey Ramone (who he named after)
Tom, tom tom, squishy, pumpkin, baby
Lenny

The rest dont have nick names.

What do you love the most about your pet(s)

They all have their own personalities. Also when they dont hubby and I may talk for them and our animals have serious potty mouths!
Joey knows what the word cuddles means and will crawl up on my chest and wrap his paws around me as best he can (yes strange)
I love that Oscar has a sliced cheese addiction and even prefers certain brands over others.
I love that Oscar saved my life.
I love home Thomas is a maniac and can jump like he has springs on his feet and will just stand around on 2 feet like its a normal thing.

Thank you we do think he is particularly handsome but then we are probably biased happy.gif The rescue centre thought we wouldn't want him because he was born with a hernia that would mean we would need to pay for him to have it surgically corrected ohmy.gif that comment instantly sealed the deal and the boys were ours!

Sorry for your loss Melissa sad.gif It is awful to lose a pet after all they are not called furbabies for nothing. I don't even want to think about one day having to lose our boys so I can understand the hole she will have left in your lives.

I'm so sorry to hear about Bella, Melissa. sad.gif Both my dogs got into rat bait a couple of months ago and we very nearly lost Scooby, I can only imagine how devastated you must feel. sad.gif

I got distracted before and only did 2 pets.

We also have Scooby, a 9 year old yellow Lab cross. We got him from the RSPCA when he was 3. He is a big ball of fun and will chase the ball til the cows come home. He also thinks he is tiny and will jump in your lap if you sit down (someone else's dog did this too but I can't remember who, sorry).

Collie is an 11 year old pure white DSH. She is a very strange animal, seriously unfriendly and shy and timid. She acts as though she was abused but we know her history (RSPCA surrender when she was 5) and we know she wasn't. She has had tons of behavioural issues and TBH I don't like her very much, but I'm committed to her. I honestly think she was sedated at the RSPCA because the cat we chose is not the cat we got.

Atticus is a black DLH whom we got as a kitten. He is pretty gorgeous but a bit like Ollie, is only affectionate when it suits him. Nickname is Atty or Atty Fatty Catty.

We've currently got 1130 litres of fish tanks and have
5 silver dollars
5 head and tail light tetras
3 albino head and tail light tetras
2 unidentified tetras
2 ember tetras
4 adult guppies
40 guppy fry
3 bristlenose catfish
2 tandanus catfish
1 blue neon cichlid
2 white skirt tetras

My favourite is Mr Biggie, a 15cm long male bristlenose. He has lots of character. The blue cichlid is pretty cool too just because he is such a gorgeous looking fish.

Ms Sassy, I love your ragdoll, what a lovely cat. And someone's brown British short hair (sorry, can't remember whose) another beautiful cat.

What sort of pet(s) do you have;
We have 2 rascally English staffys. We got Mack first and he is now almost 17 months. Molly is now almost 6 months wub.gif

How did you end up getting your pet;
DH nagged and nagged for months to get another after we got Mack- I lost count of the amount of times I heard "He needs a little sister" wacko.gif I finally gave in and within 48 hours DH had found his new little girl laugh.gif Molly came into our lives last new years eve and life has certainly not been boring since!! We had a rough start when we bought Molly home- and it was ages before we could leave them alone together- Mack loved his new sister WAY too much and we were so worried he would kill her with kindness as he is a big boofhead who doesnt know his own strength- but he wouldn't ever intentionally hurt anyone- he is such a softie and we are sure Molly is going to be the boss once she has more size on her side!

What are your pet(s) nicknames;
They have lots!
Mack gets Macko, Macko Smako, Mackattack, Boofy boy, crazy boy, menace and rascal wink.gif laugh.gif
Molly mainly gets MooMoo and baby - and ratty ratbag! wub.gif

What do you love the most about your pet(s)
I just love their unconditional love, I've had some very low times in the last 12 months and they seem to 'know' and just give the best love and snuggly hugs when it counts. Both of them are so affectionate and real people pets- they HATE being left out of anything! They are laying on me sleeping as I type this wub.gif
I've loved watching DH show his softside too - he absolutely adores both of them and dotes on them every spare second wacko.gif It warms may heart as he is not really an overly gushy or affectionate guy- but the dogs have it all over him. It's made me really see he will be a terrific loving Daddy when we are finally blessed with a child of the human kind blush.gif wub.gif
