Firstly, I can't believe they still have these accounts!!! I remember doing school banking when I was at school, although not 100% sure it was a Dolarmite account I had??

Anyway, I am about to set H's account up and his first day of banking is tomorrow. Which brings me to the question, what is a usual amount we should give? Is $5 ok? Too much? not enough?

The kids in my class last year were really into school banking. Mostly the deposits were around the $5 mark but $1 or $2 was common too. I'd be comfortable just doing a gold coin most weeks. They often had bigger deposits to make after birthdays and school holidays.

I remember doing school banking with my Dollarmite account back in primary school too.

Excellent, thank you for that. Didn't know if I was being a tight arse giving $2, especially when we also have a bank account set up for the boys since H was born that money goes into it each week. However I like the idea of H being able to bank his own money and have that bit of responsibility.
