My 2.5 year old son is fully toilet trained for poos but not wees. Its really frustrating. He's not too bad if nude but as soon as I put undies on him he always wets them!
Is anyone else's child like this? Any hints or advice to encourange him to complete TT? I feel like our TT journey has been going on for months now and Im over it sad.gif I'd really appreciate any advice.
Thanks.

No hints or tips other than don't rush it. 2.5 is still really young, he'll get it.

My DD is a bit over 3 and is the opposite, completely TT for wees, poo MUST go in a nappy... she's been TT for wees for over a year now so it's a bit frustrating.

For her, I've just bought her some pull-ups and told her she can go put one of those on if she wants to poo or she can go to the toilet.

Could you try letting him go commando for a bit? Maybe the close feeling of the undies reminds him of a nappy?...

I'm hearing ya on how frustrating it is. My 2.75 yr old knows exactly what to do but gets distracted and forgets to tell me. I've scrubbed poo off two sets of clothes today. rolleyes.gif

What we've done for wees is to take him to the toilet every 30-minutes (to begin with). It means you can't go far from the house for a while, but it's the only thing that worked for us. Then I lengthened it to 45-minutes and we're currently just touching one-hour. I still need to remind him but occasionally he'll come running through the house yelling "wees!" and I'll drop what I'm doing and quickly help him, then praise him like crazy and give him 'bickies'.

I also second the idea of no undies. DS will still go in both pants and undies but there seems to be less accidents when there are no undies.

*sigh* We'll get there. TT sucks!

2.5 is still young, i tried with A from 2 and he just wet through undies. I left it and a month before he turned 3 he was at pre school one arvo, they took his nappy Off and he used toilet all arvo no problems. For the next week i just kept reminding him by asking did he need wees or poos but most the time he would tell me. He was a litlle reluctant with his first poo on the toilet but once he did it and we made a big thing of it he realised that it was the right thing and we havent looked back since, he just wasnt ready for it all before 3. Have you tried rewards or reewsrd charts for everytime he does a we in the toilet. For the first few days with Aidan we gave him a chocOlate at the end of each day he got it right, but i like reward charts too, sO they get a star each wee/poo they get on the toilet and at the end of each say 10 stars they get a little toy or something

Thanks for your advice. Im happy to report that as of last week my DS is fully toilet trained for poos and wees now! Woohoo!! He obviously needed a bit more time like you suggested. Im such a stresser! rolleyes.gif
What I ended up doing was keeping him nude at home and then he just started to ask to wear undies at home so I went with it. We've bought heaps of cool undies with wiggles, elmo & pirate patterns etc.
I just made a rule of no nappies while awake and it helped a lot. Then I had to be brave and take him out in undies, we had one accident but none since. I think putting him back into nappies whenever we went out was confusing him.
So thanks again for your advice, I so didn't need to stress over it!

Well done!!

We are just tackling TT now. Liam has been doing a wee in the morning and before his bath and he managed to do another 2 during the day today. So we are starting to make a little of progress.
