Hi Ladies, I just have a question for you. I'm going to do my tax soon and I have always done it by myself as mine's really easy: I go to work, I get paid, I pay tax and have a couple of deductions. Nothing else. But as I've been on maternity leave for 1/2 of the financial year, does anyone know if anything really changes? I don't want to pay a tax agent $100 odd dollars if I can do it myself.

DH on the other hand, has a complicated tax return, so has his done by an agent. I'm not sure whether to go along and get mine done when he has his. What do you think?

As far as mine was concerned, nothing changed - except I got more tax back because I wasn't working the full year.

Same here. I got my group certificate as normal and they didn't ask about the baby bonus on the tax form so that didn't matter either.

Same here. Although I got a lot of paid leave (took it at half pay for a lonegr period) so ended up getting paid for almost my entire maternity leave.

Ditto all of the above. Pretty much the same as normal. Then Centrelink will do the rest if you're entitled to money from them.
