Yeah I am guessing the single story is just as big as the double story ones otherwise it wouldnt have been fair. I think they actually have the advantage because not all people like stairs.

I have to say I really liked Tania and Rods room. I really loved the colours they used the most so it was my fave and I was a bit shocked also it only scored 1 point more than Polly and Waz. Their room was so bland, it needed more colour a nice mirror/print about the fire place and they should of followed Shelley's suggestion of painting the fireplace, it looked so granny and didnt fit in at all.

Am watching it everynight but do agree they repeat everything for like a minute after each add which is so annoying and I dont understand the point of all the challenges, just get on with the job already!!!

I liked Tania and Rod's room the best too. I'm disappointed by this series so far too and wondering if maybe it's because Melbourne style is different to Sydney style and I want some ideas for my new place. I think ceiling roses are bleugh.

Polly and Waz had a shocker first round. I think they should ignore their builder and do what they want to do. While their ideas are not Melbourne-like - not surprising as they are from Sydney, I'm sure there would be buyers that like that style. The couple from last season from Melbourne did styling their way and while not everyone liked it, style is like that anyway.

All this said by a person with no style whatsoever and is very worried as to how my place will look on completion!

I am enjoying the series, althought not as much as last year.

I really liked all the couples to start with, but the sisters are starting to sh!t me up the wall. Just because they buy lots of magazines does not mean they are Australia's new style masters rolleyes.gif And I briefly looked at one of the sisters blogs and found it seriously boring.

My 'style' (term used very loosely laugh.gif) most resembles Jenna and Josh. I don't like rooms that look like they've been copied from a Freedom catalogue, I like a bit of interest and individuality.

I don't like Jenna & Josh much ph34r.gif and their idea of pallets as a bed, I hope it ends up much more inspired than it sounds (ie. very uncomfortable and splintery esp. after an amorous night! laugh.gif)

Finding it all interesting to watch Melbourne but it's not something I feel the need to watch every night. You can pretty much watch it twice a week as they recap every 10 minutes! laugh.gif

I think there will be a mattress on the pallets wink.gif *snickers at the thought of amorous nights on pallets*... oh, and it's a teenager's room, so maybe they'd WANT it to be splintery wink.gif

I'm curious as to how it will look... and are they technically 'second hand'?

development is a journey, not a race

I can't stand listening to Katrina's voice - ugh. I couldn't believe it when she had a manicure while her sister painted.

Personality wise, I think I like Polly and Waz best.

It's too early for me to say design wise which I prefer, having only seen one room.

I wouldn't have thought pallets would be that strong, but I guess if they carry heavy loads it may work... As they've been used for that purpose, I assume that's what makes them second hand?

So it seems like it's just a design show rather than a renovating one this season! I wonder if there were a lot of issues with the ones in the past which is why they don't let them do much this season.

I must admit I do find it odd that they come back from challenges to find what work has taken place that day. It's how I'd like my own renovations to be but alas nothing seems to get done unless we do it ourselves. laugh.gif

I'm very slow on the uptake but just realised that they don't have to get full time jobs this season. No wonder they are off having manicures and surfing the net and shopping.

I read somewhere that Molly Meldrum put up a bit of a fight at council as his place is in the next street. perhaps channel 9 thought about the disruption to the neighbours and now allow them to renovate in the day rather than them trying to get around the rules of using machinery after hours.

I am a Home and Away tragic so tape the shows every day and watch them the next afternoon. i'm with you Maxi, I'm feeling like I need to press mute when the sisters speak. Hurts my ears!

Yeah, that's what I've been thinking with this series too. I've watched The Block every year, since the original one and this year everything just seems to get done for them with them just decorating after all the "renovating" work has been done.

That's pretty much what I have been thinking too. I have seen them painting but no hammering, putting up drywall ( laugh.gif )

I love the show but I think I prefer the years before more. I do love the idea of them renovating a house but I would like to see them do more "renovating" as such rather then "design"

Charbella, her name is Katrina Chambers. I can't remember the blog name exactly, I'm sure it would come up on a google search though.

Does anyone else follow any reno/interior design blogs? I'm off a lot of the American ones I usually read, and would love a new distraction!

LOL! That's my kind of renovating biggrin.gif

I personally can't STAND Polly and Waz. Well actually I can't stand Polly, for some reason she bugs me beyond belief huh.gif I'm seriously hoping someone starts being a bit bold and doing something that will stand out.

Tell you what though, it gets me looking around my own house and thinking "gee, if we just knocked that wall out...!"
Everything about you is so little -
your tiny toes, your button nose, your teensy fingers
and your pint-sized giggles.
And yet, you are the biggest miracle of my life

We don't watch The Block as it airs on TV because it's right around the time we are settling the kids down to go to sleep - so we record it and watch the 1hr show in 20 mins. Seriously, there is 20mins of actual show and 40 mins of ads and fluff blink.gif

I too think it is strange they have changed the format so much this year! I think they should actually be doing way more than what they are, considering they don't have jobs to go to.

Yeah, I think that's what bothers me too - the lack of hands-on renovating. If there was more renovating, I probably wouldn't care so much about the slightly bland decorating. As it is, it's more of a decorating show, and if I watch decorating shows, I want to see more 'wow'! The new design show with Jamie Durie they keep advertising looks like it might be more down that line.
