Do people make a fuss about a 2nd birthday party? Wondering whether we should have a party with Z's little friends or not. she still does a lot of parallel play and wonder if she'd even care if her friends were there? What were your kids' 2nd birthdays like and were you happy with the choice you made to have (or not have) a party?

Is it too young to invite her friends from daycare? She's there 3 days a week and has some great little friends there, aged from 1-4, but I've never met the parents and wonder if they'd think it weird if I invited their kids (and them of course) to Zoe's party.

I think do whatever you want. I know for us I probably won't throw another big party until school/preschool and will just have small gathering with family, but if you want to throw a party go for it!

Levi- we just went to the zoo and invited family to come along if they wanted. I took some cupcakes along.

Bee- she's having a party at home, we'll probably borrow a jumping castle off family and I've ordered a pull-string pinata.

We have a party every year for the kids. Initially it was just family (no-one has kids yet) and my MG and Anti-natal groups. Keira had some school friends for the first time this year for her 4th. Liam had his 2nd birthday and it was a farm theme so I hired a mini animal farm (which he had enjoyed at a party a few months before) and invited the MG and Anti-natal (both from when I had Keira) to the party, they all have a few kids now so the ages were from 18 months to 4 years. He only just started daycare a few weeks before his party so didnt know any of them yet. Keira had a Fairies & Pirate theme for her 2nd bday and we invited the MG and Anti-natal then too. We didnt have any games at the 2nd bdays. All the kids had a play and we had the cake and they all got a party bag.

We didn't do a first birthday party, so we did a big 2nd birthday party! Kaele chose a jungle theme, so we jungle themed it all and had a jumping castle!

we're just gonna do a bbq lunch with mum and his godfather and cake of course, nothing major this year... thats more to do with the fact that ill be 36wks preg, Ivy's 1st birthday is 3 weeks later so we will have a party for her and I'd be inviting the same friends to both which seems silly. If I was you I'd have a party and invite some of her friends, why not I say xo

We didn't have a party this year, but we will be having a 1st bday party for his brother later this year. And next year we will probably have a party of some sort as we will hopefully be moving into our new house around his birthday.

For us I decided not to have a party simply because I knew we would be having one later in the year for his brother, so in my thinking I was going to do each child every 2nd year.

We didn't really have a party, just went to the local zoo and let very close friends and family know that was the plan and that we were having a BBQ and cake there if they would like to join us. It was lovely.

This year I don't expect we will be doing very much for his 3rd given I would of just given birth, giving birth or overdue. If I give birth before 40weeks we might do a family (and very close friends) affair again at a local park but not with a theme or anything just BBQ and cake again.

We had a 2nd birthday party smile.gif

We invited family, friends and MG to her 1st, was too many people by far so just family (35 people!) to her 2nd. Then at the last minute I felt bad because there'd be no little kids there (next oldest family member is 17) so invited a lady I work with and her 2 kids.

Both times we just had a BBQ, no theme, but I had snacks, sweets, cake and some decorations. As we live at least over an hour from all family members it was important to have one, we like to all get together.

For her 3rd we'll be at a placentre as we'll be moving shortly after and I don't want anyone seeing my house pre-uplift. It's going to be just MG and a couple of daycare friends, as it's our last one before moving away I really want her to have one that's just her little friends.

For K's it was an Abby Cadabby theme as that's what she was into. We had it at a park with her little friends in the morning and then later in the day a BBQ with immediate family & godparents at home was a busy day especially being 37 weeks pregnant laugh.gif

We had a party for Annabelle's second birthday smile.gif .

There were about 13 children all up, most were from our mothers group and all around 2-3. It was an elmo themed party. I made an elmo cake and most of the nibblies. There weren't any structured games I just had out lots of toys and bikes for the kids to play with. I also had little lolly bags fo all the kids (sultanas, small chocolate, crayons, stuffed elmo etc. Not really lollies) and everything was red or yellow. Annabelle was actually in a bad mood for most of the party as she'd fallen asleep in the car on the way to pick up her friend and so was grumpy but she started cheering up yoward the end. All the other kids seemed to have fun.

Ive started planning for her third birthday. It will be a family gathering with a few close friends but that still equates to around 30 adults and 10 children ohmy.gif . She wants a handbag cake this time so I'll loosly theme the party around that. But as for another kids party, she probably wont be having another one until after she starts school.

As for inviting the kids from daycare, I would. The kids will get to play and you might just make some more mummy friends smile.gif .

For DS 2nd birthday last week we were on holiday at the Gold Coast with the in-laws so went to Currumbin Sanctuary and then out for dinner that night. On the Saturday we had a small family party at home with DS' cousins so 6 kids between 1-4 which was plenty. Would have been a couple more if everyone could make it. DS loved having 2 cakes and really got into the opening of presents this year which was nice.
