I'm hoping someone knowledgeable can help me!

DH and I are currently trying to wrangle our spending and budget. I think I remember hearing about functionality in online banking, that I can't work out how to access. What I want is to create separate sections, kind of like separate accounts, that I can divide money into, so I can see how much is available for different things (i.e. a direct debits section, food, day-to-day - that type of thing). I don't want to open up totally new accounts if I can avoid it, to minimise fees.

Does anyone know if it can be done in westpac, and if so, how? (I hope I'm making sense!)

I'd ring the bank and ask them myself, but they're obviously not open.

Thanks smile.gif
Maybe it's something that can only be set up in a branch.
I'll keep clicking on things - hopefully I'll work it out smile.gif

I can't help you out with westpac but we do this with the ANZ - makes it super easy to see where your money is going when you're on a budget and it is all free. I just went in to the bank and they set it all up for me. Once it's set up you can change the account names etc to suit you and transfer funds instantly. The only thing is that you cannot withdraw from these accounts with ATM or over the counter. You can however set up automatic payments to pay bills from these accounts. I have 10 of them for various things and I find it really helpful!

With ANZ you have to either go in to the bank or if you are already set up with internet banking then you can just call their internet number which is 24 hrs a day and they can add the online saver accounts for you. Not sure if westpac is the same though, I would just give their 24 hr line a call and ask.

I'm with commonwealth and we just opened up more accounts, but they were saving type accounts that had no fees. We used to be with suncorp and they had sub accounts which was great, but pretty sure we had to do that in a branch

Thanks Ladies.
Rang the bank yesterday, they told me they could do it over the phone, but that the area that deals with it won't be open until tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have it sorted out soon!
