Noooooo! I'm not ready for this. You can all move on without me, I'll stay in the previous thread, thanks tongue.gif

I sneaked into DS's room last night and watched him sleep for a while- he's so grown up. He's such a KID, doing things that kids do. Last night during dinner he kept putting his spoon on his head and saying 'hat' and laughing like a maniac. He's got such a personality, he's so individual- I can hardly believe he's the same little baby that's in the photos.

Okay, so I'm a bit nostalgic at the moment! wub.gif

Hi girls!

Just popping in to catch up on the news and wish all the April 09 babies a Happy 2nd Birthday!! I couldn't believe that I had to venture into a new thread - they are growing up too quickly!!

Since Mitch has just turned 2 I thought I should post in this one and I hope everybody is reading this one (sorry there has been issues with the new thread and hope they are all sorted now).

Thought it was well overdue for an update (sorry everybody - I love catching up on your news on FB but don't get on here much at all these days).

Mitch had a good 2nd birthday - sang 'Happy Birthday to Mitchell' to himself all day. We just had a family dinner, no party this year. He was happy with his cake, balloons and streamers. It was a nice day, took me ages to decorate the Train birthday cake but Mitch loved it so all the buttercream icing was worth it in the end.

Otherwise we are going well. Mitch is a chatterbox, doesn't stop talking which is mostly cute but can be very tiring and grating by the end of the day. He loves his cars, trains and trucks - anything with wheels. He is on the go all the time and very exhausting! I work about one day a week, just casually, which is a good break for me and helps keep my skills up.

We still have to be careful with Mitch's peanut/nut allergy but we have adapted to it really well at home and have become very good at reading labels! Still a concern when we are away or eating out but hot chips seem to be failsafe (except in china!)

I am 22 weeks pregnant which is exciting but has been very exhausting with this little toddler running around! Congratulations also to Amy and Nephthys! We haven't found out what we are having and have the girls name sorted but still stuck on a boy name. May have to brain storm with you girls when we get some real ideas.

Mitch has taken well to his toddler bed and we are now looking at getting him a proper single bed. He has only just this week worked out he can get out of the bed by himself so we have little footsteps come into our bedroom in the morning - not too early (6:30ish) thank goodness. The boys beds we have looked at are either really over the top shelving or bunks - so many pretty girls ones!

Sorry to hear your father isn't doing well Bee. Sk has some good ideas re: fundraising. I wish you all the best with it.

Hello to everybody else and I hope you all have had or planning a fantastic day celebrating 2nd birthdays.

Tanya

Bee- I'm sorry to hear that everything is still going badly with your Dad sad.gif How fantastic and generous of your community to give like that!

Tj- CONGRATULATIONS! I have you on FB and thought that you might be pregnant but didn't want to put my foot in and be wrong blush.gif . It sounds like little Mitchell had a fantastic 2nd birthday, how cute that he was singing to himself all day wub.gif

AFM- Golly gosh, William has really taken this 'terrible two' thing to heart. We've had the most ear-bleeding tantrums this week, I'm actually excited about shipping him off to daycare tomorrow ph34r.gif . So much ado about nothing- like he screamed for ten minutes because he wanted his socks on, but wouldn't let me take his shoes off to put them on. Oh, and let's not forget the tantrum regarding his Dad offering him Weetbix for breakfast when clearly, he wanted toast blink.gif It's just been the most insane week, he's reached a whole new decibel of screaming.

I've updated the birthday list here but maybe Nep, you could edit your original post and put it in there?

Amy - I don't want to tell you how to do things but I have found giving Nina a choice can alleviate the tantrums (believe me, we have the full gamut). Nina has a few different things she can have at each meal and I say them all and she tells me what she wants, seems to work.

Tanya - I commented on one of your photos - CONGRATS! So happy for you lovely. Mitch is just lovely, so tall and a strapping little two year old.

Bee- when are you thinking about having the fundraiser?

SK - hi gorgeous biggrin.gif

Amy, I can only echo what Mon has said. We do the same for Nathan (and at times Emma) and this has worked really well for us. Gives them a sense of control and proud they got to make a choice but we also get to choose what we are prepared to give them if that makes sense. Some mornings Nathan will choose the cereal option (has to be daddy's though!) and other mornings it's toast. I always offer him the same choices. Today I threw fruit salad into the mix but he wanted cereal.

Tan, I am so excited for you honey. I was the same as Amy, had my suspicions but didn't want to put my foot in it. Means we MUST meet up for a cuppa now...half way??

Bee, awesome what you have achieved in such a short space of time! If you need any help, I would love to. I might not be in the same state but if there is anything I can do just let me know.

Mon, right back at ya gorgeous lady!! xoxo

Me....the count down till my boy turns 2 is on. Last night he got shitty with me when I didn't say bye quick enough when I was leaving the room... He yelled at me "bye mummy" and I said oops I forgot and he laughed and said "silly mummy". He is totally blowing me away because Emma was never this advanced with her speech at the same age. His bed is till 4 weeks away GRRRR.... we should of had it in 2 weeks but they forgot to order it!

Stuck on you is having a free offer - all you do is pay postage. They have 4 difference options.

www.stuckonyou.com.au/freeoffer

Promo code - FREE2011

I just ordered Nathan the personalised book. Not bad for $3 postage!

Thanks for the congrats girls - I hadn't really mentioned it on FB, not for any real reason just felt funny announcing it when pretty much everyone we have told has said 'about time' or 'we were expecting that'. Sort of took the excitement out of it for us a bit.

Thanks for the stuckonyou offer link SK - I ordered M one too, sounds too good to miss. We definitely need to plan a meet up. After Easter sometime? We'll work on a date.

Just when I boast about how good Mitch is going in his toddler bed he won't go down for his nap today and I've had to put him back to bed 10 times! Not sure whether to keep persisting but I don't want him to 'win' this battle. He's never done this before so sure he's testing the boundaries.

Amy - we have 2 year old attitude here too! We do the same as the other girls have suggested, offer 2 choices and also try to make light of situations. For example, if Mitch won't put his socks on we sing the song about putting your socks on your head, on your nose etc etc then Mitch will show us they go on his feet. A long way to do it but avoids tantrums.

Bee great work on the fundraising. You are doing an amazing job and I'm sure you dad appreciates it.

I can hear pitter patter footsteps again.............best go put him back to bed...again!
