I am considering having a cake made of cheese (tiered with different cheeses and nicely decorated of course).

What does everyone think of it? Is it tacky?

Im not sure what you mean?

Cheesecake as in lemon, chocolate, strawberry type of ones?

Can you elaborate?

No a cake make of wheels of actual cheese (as in cheese and biscuits), but an assortment of nice cheeses.

IMHO if you want to have cheese and biscuits - I would have them just as cheese and biscuits - you don't have to have a cake at all if you don't want to? (we didn't)

However I think a cake made of cheese is quite a novel idea - it would be interesting to see peoples reactions.

My sister's friend did this and I think it was well received.

Yes minimee2B like that but nicely decorated. It's a shame I can't add a link to a website so you all know what I mean but if you google wedding cheese cakes you can get the general idea.

Like this? http://www.norbitonc.....ding Cake.jpg

I was trying to imagine cheese with a ganache or frosting alternative laugh.gif blush.gif

It'd certainly be a "cake" to remember and I think if you are both cheese-people rather than sweet people, then go for it!

My fiancÚ would love it, I would hate it! You're never going to please everyone, so do what suits the two of you.
ETA I think I'm in the minority and most people would enjoy it.

Do you not want a cake at all?

I guess the other option could be a proper sweet cake and then a small cheese cake like what you linked? Best of both worlds?

Thanks everyone for your feedback! Neither my fiance nor I are sweet tooths.
I think we'll go for the cheese wheel cake and serve it on platters as dessert
