I wonder what the mother of the Blue team has her melt down over? It looked like she was yelling at her son's girlfriend. Awkward......

I think I'm going to enjoy this season. smile.gif
That was what tipped me over the edge. BLURGH

I reckon she'll be the first to crack. You could already tell last night that she was making excuses.

My husband went completely the other way. At the start, when he was shirtless and doing chinups, I went "Phwaor!!" And V turns to me and says "I think I've just turned gay" laugh.gif laugh.gif

Looking forward to seeing the weight loss journey of these families, should be an interesting season smile.gif

Oh the pasta thing was just gross, as was a lot of the other food habits such as eating Maccas/ fast food 3 times a day and starting the day with chips and coke on heading to the balery for pies and cakes! Mind you it does really show the 'peer pressure' side if eating and how eating is just so influenced by thoese around us. Families to play a big role.... feel very sorry for the lady who's Dad was a heroin addict and was without a good role model sad.gif

Some things I thought were kind of funny from last nights ep:

- The Commando on realising that his family were all ladies... the look on his face when they all started squealing and shrieking in excitment laugh.gif priceless!
- Tiffany on entering her families house looked honestly scared that she might start inhaling calories just from being there laugh.gif Agree about the comment about her never having had a chicken parma laugh.gif

**I'll say first up that I need to lose weight, so it's a little bit of the pot calling the kettle black, also, I was watching whilst cooking dinner, so did miss bits and pieces**

Seriously, Tiffiny's team was just revolting. I'm not sure if they were using 'humour' to hide their embarrassment or what, but the way they were carrying on at that pub was so painful to watch. It's not funny that you have eaten yourself to the point where your health is seriously compromised. And the brother boasting about eating everyones scraps?? Are they really mentally prepared to lose the weight, because it came accross like they were boasting about their lifestyle and food choices.

Maybe I'm just a bit precious??

Secondly (sorry... I've been stewing on this since last night wacko.gif), I think the show would have a bit more credibility if they chose contestants that had maybe made some form of weight loss commitment prior to getting selected. Even if they'd lost 5kg, or made dietary/exercise changes, it would show they were serious and would really benefit from the assistance. Gorging yourself on chocolate immediately before commencing something like this just shows such contempt, when there are people who I'm sure would make huge sacrifices for the opportunity to be trained and educated by these people.

With all that said and done, I will be watching the show, and I do really, really hope that they all lose weight and become fit and healthy.

Do you remember Big Wal? My husband "knew people that knew him", and apparently he was told to put on more weight for the show... thats why he lost so much. I really think they exaggerate the eating and that's why they don't show them trying to lose weight. It makes good television.

I also think the humour is a bit of a cover for their embarrassment. You could see the tears in the contestant's eyes when the trainers looked at the food in horror.

I would think the producers encourage them to do certain things and set up some scenes. There is no way they would have some of those foods laying around on tables all the time like some of those snacks

Ok, I'm only part-way through the first episode BUT:

When Shannon turned up to his family, the food on the table didn't look that bad to me blink.gif Some t-bones, green veggies, mash, some grilled sweet potato blink.gif Granted I wouldn't eat a t-bone every night of the week, but it's hardly a horrific meal...

Also, has Tiffany seriously never eaten a chicken Parma??? It looked like a fairly ordinary one, but I think it's somewhat 'unastrayan' to be bagging the good humble Parma wink.gif and I have definitely eaten a lot of them that are significantly bigger than the one she had blink.gif Not every night of course.

Tiffany's going to annoy me this season. I thought she was a bit precious about the parmigana. Like she's never eaten one unhealthy thing in her life. rolleyes.gif

I got tears in my eyes with Sarah? who's dad was the herion addict. And when she told the story of eating the garbage lettuce for sustenance. sad.gif

I didn't find the pasta as gross as the camembert cheese s/w. ph34r.gif

*Blue Dad- Blue Mum seems to be a bit psycho and I don't like her very much (calling her husband a lap dog???) but he is just so adorable. When they were told about the weigh in and she started crying and saying that she couldn't do it, his voice sounded so loving and supportive- he's such a rock wub.gif I'm in love with him already

*Tiffany- She's driving me nuts already. Okay, yes, you might have had this perfect upbringing but let's admit that most people eat these things. wacko.gif Having one chicken parma doesn't necessarily make you overweight, that's the way she seemed to be carrying on about it. I've eaten most of (if not all) of the foods shown on this show before, and I'm not overweight at all.

*Michelle- Wish she'd gotten the all girl team. Every year she gets some big guys, makes them strip off their shirts and carry her around. I think that she actually enjoys it. ph34r.gif

*Love Shannon- he's real and understanding but tough when he needs to be. I also don't like tattoo's in real life, but for some reason, his gets' me going every time tongue.gif

I love this show! I'm really looking forward to watching it all and seeing what kind of results they can get. I think it spers me on a little - you know the whole if they can do then I can do it type thing.

But oh my some of the food they were eating! Surely no-one has all of that food at once?! A tub of ice cream each in one sitting, and to do it several times a week??!

Me too, except it was a bag of twisties!

Tiffany is going to annoy the living daylights out of me, no doubt about it, but I did feel sorry for her and the food. I remember clearly, after doing WW for 6 months and having dropped 12 kgs, my then partner suggested we have fish and chips as a special one off dinner. So much fat and oil, after not having it for six months actually made me physically sick, so if Tiffany doesn't eat that food ever, then I'm not surprised she had that reaction and felt wretched.

I love the Commando. He can leave his shoes under my bed any day! I feel a bit sorry for him, in that he's disadvantaged right from the get go. We know that men lose weight at a faster rate for longer, than women, so he's got four women, as opposed to Michelle who has four men. No contest who's going to come out on top there in body fat percentage loses.

The Blue team Mum needs a slap. Get a grip chick, you got to be this weight through your own choices. Time to put on your big girl pants and take responsibility for your actions. And Shannon just doesn't do it for me. I don't know why, I just have never really taken to him.

Is it too late to say bring back Bob and Jillian? laugh.gif

I've just started reading Tiffiny's book and as much as I agree that you can still eat the odd unhealthy thing every now and then and still be healthy. When she was growing up, her parents didn't keep any junk food in the house. To when the book was written she hasn't eaten Hungry Jacks, Maccas or KFC. I do understand that is her choice and she must be extremely healthy.

I haven't seen last nights episode yet, will watch it online tonight.

So, if you were a contestant and could choose, who would you have as your trainer?

None of them particularly thrill me (maybe because I'm not a healthy eater, nor am I into exercise!) but at a pinch I'd probably choose Shannan.
