Hey ladies...

woohoo I am finally on this side! I was starting to think he was never going to come laugh.gif

Well we are doing OK. Still in hospital and probably will be til friday. Sigh. Though I'm pretty worried about going home, because I've had a C-sec I can't do anything sad.gif Can't pick up ash, can't drive, can't lift anything... so I'm probably better off in hospital for the moment.

Harper is just awesome wub.gif we had a rough day yesterday and a rough night last night, but from 6am this morning he's been a dream... feeding 3 hourly and sleeping the whole time in between. Hopefully he does this throughout tonight as well! (though probably wishful thinking)

Hope all our mums and bubs are doing well. Wonder who will be next?

Well Archie is 4 weeks on Thursday and I think it is getting easier....I just follow his lead because i have no idea...i am tired but my husband is on holidays for the whole of January so I just have to get through the next 2 weeks on my own... smile.gif

I hear you on the typing with one hand!!!! Archie loves to be held all the time during the day...i have put him to bed now but he is wide awake and talking...so i dont know how long i have..

Hey girls, hope everyone is going well with their new additions. Congratulations to all. We came home from hospital on Sunday and Willow has been an absolute dream so far-feeding 3-4 hourly and sleeping in between. She rarely fusses, only when she is without clothes and she loves the bath. We are both still learning to feed, but I'm expressing so she doesn't starve and she seems to be loving that.

Off to rest, as I have been going non stop since we came home and it is catching up with me.

Aries-sorry to be a pain, but do you mind putting the R in Harper for me? Thanks

Hi Mummies! Hope you're all well. I'm still here. Just not typing as much cos it's so hard to do one handed. lol.

We're going well. I think wink.gif People keep asking if he's a good baby and we have to say that we don't know, we haven't anything to compare him to. tongue.gif

Having a little trouble bfing still. Spencer's quite a "lazy" baby when it comes to feeding. He'll attach and suck well for a while, but he zonks out really quickly. I had an appointment with the lactation consultant on tue and she doesn't think he's quite ready to be exclusively breastfed, but perhaps do the supply line each alternate feed. Though since we saw her on tue, he's reluctant to take it. It's like he can feel it in his mouth and he doesn't attach properly. So I'm finger feeding him a bit to make sure he gets enough to eat.

It feels a bit different to how I thought it would be. I can't put my finger on how. But just different. I thought I would get more frustrated. There have been moments when I get a bit tense, but they usually pass in less than a minute. And its not so much that I'm stressed about something, just the lack of sleep gets to me.

That would be the worst thing. Not being able to sleep all the way through the night. Although I am so surprised I'm able to function. Spencer's up for about an hour with feed, nappy change and a cuddle. Then asleep from 2.5-3.5 hours.

The best thing is when he settles when I hold him. wub.gif In the past, whenever I've smiled or been around a baby, they just seemed to cry harder unsure.gif It made me feel that I had no maternal instincts whatsoever. But with my own son, seeing how he relaxes around me, gives me so much more confidence in what I'm doing. If that makes sense.

I'm also loving having my DH at home. Though I think he's a bit bored. He's been wonderful. He changes most of the nappies. Gets Spencer out of his bassinett for me, Will settle him when I have to express. blush.gif I'm not looking forwards to Jan when he goes back to work.

I think we're pretty lucky. Spencer's a really relaxed baby. Fingers crossed it doesn't change. He doesn't fuss whenever he gets poked or prodded by midwives or paeds. I'm looking forwards to in a couple of weeks time when he becomes more responsive. Although I'm definately not wishing this newborn stage away, cos I know how quickly it flies.

Wow. Long post. Look what happens when you have 2 free hands. Lol. laugh.gif Hope my sleepy ramblings make sense.

Just a quck q. Has anyone's bub experienced baby acne? Its come up on his face about 3 days ago. It does look like it's settling down now, but I'm wondering how long it's going to take before it totally goes away?

Are you talking about th elittle pimple looking things Carolyn? Both my boys still have them, they come and go, it's caused by hormones, will settle in time smile.gif

Twinlets are going really well, we're still breastfeeding with a formula top up at 7-ish so I get a break. They had their 4 week check up today (at 5 weeks laugh.gif) and in the 2 weeks since their last weigh Bas has gained 580g and grown 1.5cms. Ollie has gained a whopping 820g and grown 2.5cms. Ollie is now longer than Bas and only 60g lighter. Was just the confidence boost I needed, I was so ready to throw int he towel with breastfeeding, feels like I'm constantly feeding them and I was starting to stress about Dh going back to work in 2 weeks (eep!). But with weight gains like that I'm confident that some gentle encouragement to stretch their feeds out a bit won't hurt.

Yes, its like he's 2 weeks going on 14! Some of them are a bit pus-y, little clusters of whiteheads. Yuck! Bugger, was hoping they would disappear soon.

Glad to hear that the twins are growing well. Some moments I think ff would be so much easier, I can't imagine having to feed 2 babies. ohmy.gif Do you feed them at the same time? I imagine you'd need to be an Indian deity with all those arms to do that. laugh.gif

Emsie - Hope you & Harper made it home ok. It is a bit tough after a c-section. Just try not to overdo things early on.

Babycooper - Sounds like you're doing really well!

Clints Girl - Sounds like you're doing really well as well!

Carolyn - Babies are hard work, and you don't really realise it until you actually have one. The broken sleep is really difficult as well, even if you can go back to sleep straight away.

Megs - That's great that the bf is still working for you....but you must be so exhausted by it

Ishi -Not long to go now. Looking forward to hearing some news from you hopefully soon. I had a c-section & was in hospy for 5 days & I was fine but I took it easy. It really depends on how the whole birth goes for you & weather you have it vag or c sect. Hopefully you'll get to spend Chrissy with your parents!!!

AFM - DH & I seem to be having constant arguments about nothing really. wacko.gif He is not used to having so much time at home & being here all day everyday is driving him slightly stir crazy. Alex seems to be growing so fast & changing everyday. He is looking at everything & he almost rolled over from his back to his front!!! ohmy.gif Ben is a complete handful and I'm not sure how I'm going to do it when DH goes back to work in a couple of weeks. Anyway, babies are now calling!!!!

Hi everyone

Sorry for not checking in earlier. We are just so consumed with Alexander that time is flying. I can't believe he is already 11 days old and this time last week we were getting ready to come home!

Alexander is a great night sleeper - the last 2 nights he has slept between 11pm - 3am! So I am lucky getting a good nights sleep most nights!

He cluster feeds in the early evening and can be quite unsettled but once he hits that last feed of the day he is zonked!!

We had his santa photo taken yesterday - he looked so tiny and cute! Santa was very uncomfortable holding a 10 day old baby though lol.

I hope Ishi and Cobie's bubbas come soon! And I hope all our other mummies are doing well.

Question - does your baby sneeze alot? Alexander is quite snuffly and sneezes alot ... Not sure if this is normal still 11 days after birth?

Hi girls....

Ishi do whatever feels right...we had so many visitors in hospital that we just wnated to be alone at home with Archie when he first got home however i would hate to miss christmas with my family so...

Sarah - Archie is 4 weeks and still sneezes often...the maternal nurse said its fine and not to worry unless there is discharge

Aries..my hubby and i make stupid snide comments at almost every night feed because we are tired...i get resentful that i am stuck at home all day so if he even sighs i jump at him...he thinks he is super dad so if i ask him to do something else he sooks....its just a learning curve i guess and once Archie is settled we will be too....

Archie had his Santa photo yesterday although there is alot more Santa than Archie in the photo...you can barely see him..he slept right through it!!! smile.gif

We had Cooper Christmas on the weekend...he was a little angel...got passed around all day and just slept and made us look bad for looking tired...people must think we are lying!!!

Ishi and Cobie i am hanging to hear news about your bubs....you must be getting so excited to finally meet!!!

Megs you are a champion breastfeeding twins i couldnt do it for one!!!

Do any of you have vomity babies?? sometimes it looks like he has thrown up a whole feed and he has so much wind!!!! think he might have a bit of reflux as he makes pained noised when he is put to bed on his back and draw his legs up and groans...

Now my milk is really settling in I am finding Alex upchucks alot too. Even to the point sometimes it's a bit projectile! The first time he projected it down my singlet and it went all the way down past my belly button and it even got onto my undies!!!!! I had to shower, I had to bathe him down.. there was SO much it looked like he has spewed up his whole feed. But he seemed content.

Now, I am prepared! I always feed with a towel or two terry cloth squares. They are essential!! lol....

And Alex seems to have alot of wind also - he is a champion farter pmsl!

Hi Everyone

Good luck Cobie and Ishi! All the best for the next week or so. I hope you ladies have smooth deliveries!

Ishi - for me, I would not have been able to make it to xmas if I was in your situation, but hopefully labour and birth will be easy for you and you'll be able to make it. I would just play it by ear.

Sarah, good to hear from you. smile.gif That's excellent that Alex is sleeping well for you. Spencer has just started demanding those cluster feeds in the evening that you mentioned. How do you do them? Do you keep feeding him and putting him down only to get him up shortly? Or do you keep him up? Spencer seems so awake that he was actually up for 4 hours unsure.gif . And last night his appetite was unsatiable he was up from 12:30 am - 4. Needless to say, I'm wrecked today.

BC- Sounds like you have one relaxed little boy wub.gif . Spencer usually is fast asleep when we visit the inlaws or my parents, makes them very jelous cos DH and I were never like that. laugh.gif

Spencer chucks sometimes. I saw the lactation consultant today and she said it's not a problem, unless they do it each feed. Sometime's there's just air behind the milk and it comes back up.

As for us, we're still supply lining - as he was preterm, the LC thinks we should give him another week before we try exclusively breastfeeding. She kept saying how well I'm going, and that I've not complained. blush.gif Made me feel really good, like all this trouble with expressing etc is going to be worth it in the end. Still on the domperidone, and she also suggested some vitamins to help boost my supply.

Sorry for any typos. It's difficult doing it one handed. laugh.gif MIL is over now. So gotta go. Have a great week. smile.gif
