Hi Everyone

Wondering if you could please help.

We have been invited to my niece's 10th birthday party in a few weeks time and I desperately need some suggestions for what to buy her.

Normally I always buy clothes and something else like an activity or a game etc (previous years was anything Hannah Montana).

Now she is getting quite snobby and just doesn't wear what people give her and she is terribly spoilt so doesn't really need anything. It is more the case of she opens the present, looks at it and then puts it down and most times never worn or used after that.

I still have a few items of clothing to give her but what else could you suggest? I am not a fan of giving money to people as I don't feel there is any thought put behind it.

Is there anything unique or special I could do this time that won't cost the earth. I try and stick to a budget of around $50 for each of the kids.

Does she have her ears pierced? If so what about a pair of cute earings? or maybe a little braclet or something. Little girls normally like jewlery.
Or maybe books if she's in to reading? Or a set of really nice colour pencils? I remember being right into stationary when I was around that age... you know cool pencil cases, erasers etc

What about something like a couple of hours jewellery making lesson or something like that?

Chocolate making lesson? Cake decorating lesson? Surfing or snorkelling lesson?

Something that she will do, experience and learn from rather than something she will look at and put away and not play with.

Funny you should say that cause that is the stuff I was actually looking at.

See, that is what I thought maybe I should be leaning towards, something more like these but we are not close and don't really see her very much so as sad as it is, we don't really know what her interests are.

I know she is heavily involved in dancing and has just started modball.

I'd go jewellery, smiggle (it is the "in" thing for tweens) or a gift voucher for a boutique shop (or surf shop etc depending on what she's in to).

I also like the idea of the science kits! Especially the perfume one - pretty cool for a 10yo!

Cosmetic Science - Hair

Spa Sensations

Spa Factory

Cosmetic Science - Face

Cosmetic Science - Skin

Cosmetic Science - Luxury Mask

I'll have a look in Kmart at the other things as well, but I noticed these on Deals Direct. Not sure if they are expensive or not.

I paid $29 for the Cosmetic science kits at Kmart just last week. They also had a smaller bath bomb kit for $24.

The spa factory ones are expensive as I have picked them up at Toy Kingdom Clearance Centre for anywhere from $9-$20 depending on the size of the kit.

If she's into dancing, I'd get something along those lines... Dance is an obsession at any age smile.gif

what kind of dance is she in to? Is she taking lessons?

Maybe a pair of Bloch dance shoes, or a dance DVD (there are thousands out there from learn how to, to movies etc
