Sorry I hardly come in here anymore- I will make more of an effort!!

Janelle - I am so happy for you that Lucas is developing so well! And what a boofer!! Good luck for the results of the MRI, it really must have been hard to see him sedated sad.gif

Kristy - I hope you get your 'mum' soon! Andrew went through a stage of really saying mumumumum dadadadad bububububub but now he is really quiet and hardly says anything!

AFM - Andrew is finally 6 months, 8.4kg and 67cm. He has a cold at the moment and eczema on his bum so I feel so bad for him, he seems happy enough but I think its my fault! The last week (before the cold and eczema) he had a 'wonder week' and that was a bit tough as he cried whenever I put him down or walked away. I also think I've been putting him on his tummy too much, because now whenever he is on his back he shows no signs of rolling sad.gif whereas when he was littler he would roll right onto his side sad.gif so I've been putting him onto his back and helping him roll over.

Sleeping - I let Andrew sleep whenever he likes. Which in the morning is often, most of the morning is spent asleep (1hr up, 1 hr down) but is awake in the arvo longer. He is at that stage now that if we are out or have people over he does not want to go to sleep! I have to take him into another room, whereas before he would sleep anywhere. If I'm out at the shops though, he usually will sleep in the pram no worries.

Hi everyone smile.gif

Katy I'm with you - I will make more effort to get in here regularly! As we don't go to a formal mothers group, it's great to hear what all your kids are getting up to smile.gif

Janelle - Hopefully you have Lucas's results and you can get some answers. Great that Lucas is sleeping pretty well for you too. I can't wait for that to happen again! Wow he's making excellent weight gains. The clothes not fitting must be a pain. I've just started putting Lachie into overalls. Have you tried them at all? You can adjust the length on them and then don't have to worry so much about it fitting his waist.

Katy - It's great that Andrew is sleeping well for you, not so good about the cold and eczema sad.gif I wonder if Andrew is staying on his back more because he wants to look around at everyone/everything more now? Just a thought. I know Lachie is a little sticky beak now and loves to see everything that is going on.

Kristy - Great that Finn is doing so well with his solids. Has Finn got any teeth yet? I thought Lachie might have been teething ages ago, but nothing has happened. He seems to have all the signs, so I guess that they were just moving around and have settled again. I thought Alyssa was teething at about 4 months and she eventually got one at 12 1/2 months! Lach seems to be heading the same way!

As for us. A few weeks ago Lachie had a rash all over him which the Dr's initially thought was a viral rash, but then thought baby measles. That meant a bit of time at home for us as they said to stay away from little kids and anyone pregnant. He's okay and didn't really seem that sick except for the rash, but he was rather irritable and didn't sleep very well and is only starting to get back to liking sleep again. One night last week I counted 7 wake ups between him going down at 7 and waking up in the morning. Fortunately a few of those were before we went to bed, but still we've been up a lot in the night. Alyssa is finally cutting her 2 year old molars (just before she turns three), so she's been waking a bit too. I can't wait for both kids to sleep through the night! On the bright side he's settled himself to sleep in the morning for the last couple of days and is waking up only a couple of times at night now. Hopefully it lasts!

Lachie is enjoying his solids and has taken to them far better than Alyssa did. He actually opens his mouth and doesn't gag on it! Lach is 7 1/2 months now and yesterday he weighed in at 8.3kg and 68cms, so just under 50% for both.

As for sleep I try to get Lach to sleep after about 2 hours, but it doesn't often seem to work out that way. If we are out anywhere he just wont give in and wants to be involved in what we're doing.

I'm the same i'm usually on the forum at least once every couple of days but forget to check in here...With my Nov 08 mummies we started a private group of just the 12 of us on FB and almost everyday there is new posts and is just easier because most people check FB at least once a day. Let me know what you think it could be a good option for us and if you'd be interested?

Katy- Glad you guys are doing well and i hope Andrew gets over his cold soon smile.gif Everything so far for us is dad dad dad dadadada dad dad No mum's yet just an occasional bub bub bub

Karryn- Glad everything has settled down now with Lachie- it must have been a tough week for you!
No teeth here either which is funny because im sure i could feel them a few months ago but nothing...it's strange to have a 6.5 month old with no teeth..K had 3 and 1 starting to come through at this age laugh.gif Still lots of drool, eating things and red cheeks though hehe

AFM- Not much is happening here...No teeth yet and still only really saying dada laugh.gif He did some photo's for an online store the other day (my best friend is a photographer so got him to model some rattles for her product photo shoot) i'll put pics on FB soon they turned out well.
Still plodding along with solids i've learnt he hates Avocado just like his big sister did but loves broccoli blended up. He has his first cold and sounds awful coughing- i feel like the worst mummy for passing it on to him (i've had it for about 10 days now) sad.gif

Does anyone do baby led weaning? Just wondering how safe it is to give him like steamed broccoli on the stalk instead of blending it lumpy..he is 6.5 months and all gums if that matters? It makes me nervous giving him whole things at the moment so havnt tried but wouldnt mind...it seems so long ago since starting solids with K

Great to hear from you katy- and great to hear that Andrew is doing so well at 6 months! Sorry to hear about the eczema, but it's not your fault. Lucas got really bad nappy rash for a while just after 6 months - we used Lucas' Paw Paw ointment which helped. Hope you find something that helps Andrew.

You all may or may not have seen my other post in another thread. Lucas has some brain damage. We don't know what it means yet, but it's all been a bit tough here. Will post more later if I get the chance.

Janelle - I've just gone looking for your other post. Big hugs to you all. Not sure what to say, just wanted to say I'm thinking of you.

Kristy - I'd be happy to do a FB group. Giving finger food to Lachie makes me nervous too and I tend to watch him like a hawk! I recently tried putting the food into a mesh feeding bag and Lach loved eating (well sucking on) some pear and apple. I think broccoli would work too. I think they are sold near spoons etc.

Yesterday my parents dog died at the ripe old age of 16. He was a pound puppy and he was the most spoilt dog I've ever seen. I wasn't sure how to tell Alyssa sad.gif but fortunately DH volunteered and did a great job explaining. I wonder how much 2 years olds understand about stuff like this.....

On a positive not we went shopping today and I got lots of good bargains at Myers. We managed to get lots done as both the kids had a sleep and tag teamed a turn in the pram!

Hope everyone has a good week.

Janelle - just went and found your thread sad.gif That must have been so heartbreaking to hear but I guess it is a good sign that Lucas has already improved so much? Cold comfort I know but a good sign hopefully. I really can't imagine how you feel, if you ever want to chat I'm here for you smile.gif One of my close relatives had a congenital defect so while I may not exactly know what you are going through, I can relate somewhat. Please take care of yourself xx

I'd just like to quickly apologise to Karryn and Kristy - when I typed my post the other two weren't there, and when I clicked post (the next day I think) they were.

Will be back to type more later. Thanks for your kind words though guys - it sucks but we'll take it as it comes.

Hello everybody - long time no see. I thought I should come back and see how everyone is doing since it has been such a long time.

Things are going pretty well here - Zoe is being a great big sister and Grace is really starting to become her own little person. She is very healthy, sitting up now and loves to blow raspberries. And I'm doing pretty well - I'm sure you all know I was diagnosed with PND so I am on anti-depressants now and I have my first psychologist appointment on Thursday. So apart from being a little bit crazy (sometimes a lot crazy) I am doing well. I even started a little business selling cupcakes/cakes/cookies smile.gif - just for a little bit of fun biggrin.gif

How is everyone going?

It's been so long since I've been in here! Hello to everyone and welcome back Alicia smile.gif

jantastic - sad.gif So sorry hun.. Will go look for the other thread. Huge ((Hugs)) to you and Lucas.

We are having a lot of sleep problems sad.gif My once 8+ hour sleeping baby is now not sleeping AT ALL! I'm lucky if i get 40 minutes from her during the day and at night im up nearly every 3 hours and thats if i get her down to sleep in the first place! Last night it took 2.5 hours to get her to sleep, I ended up giving up and went to bed with her at 10.30pm.

So my question is: How are your babies sleeping? Have i been blessed with 3 fantastic sleepers and now it's my turn to have a horrid sleeper? wink.gif

Thinking of heading to Tresillian soon if it doesn't improve.

ETA- We are still feeding ALOT too 8+ times a day, with a few over night. Maybe thats the problem?

Karryn - sorry to hear about your parents' dog sad.gif It's always sad, no matter how old they are, when they pass. Great to hear you did well at the sales with tag-teaming kids though smile.gif

I have one of those mesh feeding bags for Lucas, but he's just hopeless with it - he's ok with finger foods themselves, but when it comes to the texture of the mesh bag he just gags. I would love for him to take to it though!

Alicia - good to hear from you! I was hoping you were doing well. Great to hear that Grace is sitting and doing so well :)Hope your business is going well!

Beth - Oh no! Those sleep problems sound terrible sad.gif No advice, I think you'd know much more than me about sleeping bubbies tongue.gif Lucas sleeps pretty well - mostly he'll sleep though, sometimes he'll wake once around 4am. Feed wise, he took to food like a duck to water, so he's nutso on food more than anything else (he'll have around three cups of food a day, if not more), and I've dropped him down from three hourly feeds (approximately) to four hourly. My aim is to have him on three feeds a day by around 9-10 months, especially as I'll have to go back to work and I want to attempt to continue breastfeeding from work. I only rattled through all that because you said that you're still feeding 8ish times per day. I suspect Tresillian will suggest dropping feeds down a little though... The one positive about a bub that doesn't sleep is that you can just try different things as you know it can't get much worse!

AFM - Well, Lucas is nearly 10kg, he's 9.9 today. He's also 77cm, so he's had yet another massive growth spurt. He's in size 1s now (they're a little big, but 0's are way too teeny so I put him in 1s with the sleeves rolled up. He's coming along slowly, the physio becomes a little repetitive and tedious (to me, I'm sure it's all fun and games to him), but we have progress...
He can sit up! He' can go for around 20-ish minutes sitting, and so he's doing so well. So this is the first milestone that Lucas has reached within the ages given. He's still not pushing up onto his hands when doing tummy time (we need to work on that), but he's sitting! It makes my life easier, as he's so bloody heavy, so now I can pull him to sitting and then lift him which is much easier. He has his EEG tomorrow but no word yet on whether he'll get in to see a neurologist any time soon.
I'm going a little stir crazy again. It's funny how time passes and then people fade away a bit. Out of sight, out of mind I suppose.
Trying now to sort out what to do re: going back to work. I was going back in September, but now, I think I'm going to have to go back earlier, maybe August (late August), to keep enough leave up for all our medical appointments. We looked at whether I could give up work, but we'd have to sell our house, and we're just not keen on going down that path unless we desperately have to. So we're sorting out whether DH can take some days off work and whether the ILs are able to take a day a week or a day a fortnight... Gosh, it's so difficult anyway, so throwing all these issues into the mix certainly adds a spanner to the works!

Aaaand, he's awake, I can see him rolling around on the little video monitor, so I must go! Talk again soon, and thanks for posting and bumping the thread up Beth - another 'out of sight, out of mind' I suppose!

Alicia - so glad to see you back, I was wondering where you had disappeared to smile.gif Sorry to hear about the PND, hope the psychiatrist appointment went well.

Beth - we're not having sleep problems, but still have a night time feed. Andrew feeds at least 10 times (with one of those at night). I'm guessing you've looked at all the obvious things like caffeine in your diet, change in your diet, warmth, wind etc? Otherwise no suggestions but I hope it gets fixed soon!

Janelle - I can't believe Lucas is 10kg!! Holy moly!! You must get a sore back! And well done Lucas on sitting, 20 mins, that is amazing! I hear you on the crazy thing, if you ever want to drive out this way my door is always open! I don't really get out your way very often anymore sad.gif But check out free things on at the library, I've made a few friends there, and also check out Mainly Music - it occupies a morning of our time and again made a few friends there. I don't envy you having to go back to work early, that is a tough decision to make. And you really don't want to have to sell your house in this market! Are you going to work part time or full time?

AFM - Andrew is crawling! Its a bit of a half caterpillar/half up on the knees but there is forward momentum and I was so excited when he did it. And I managed to get it on video so DH could see it. He's giggling lots, lots of babbling too which is lovely to hear. We're having a few clingy times where I can't leave him, even putting him in the pram sometimes, but its not too bad.

Been about a month since I updated! Whoops!

Andrew is going to be 8 months next week, I can't believe how quickly the time has gone. He is quite co-ordinated now, he is able to pick out a toy from a box if thats the one he wants to play with. And so much more aware, if he hears 'Giggle and Hoot' on tv he will stop what he is doing and crawl over to the tv to watch. Well he's still not crawling but doing the caterpiller thing.
He is cutting his first tooth too! We can feel the sharp little thing popping through. So far it doesn't seem to bother him, and my Mum reckons that we never had any problems with our teeth but I think she is suffering from selective memory wink.gif
We're still breastfeeding, and I have no plans to stop. I quite enjoy it, as does Andrew, so we'll keep going to 12 months and see what happens.

How is everyone else and their bubs?

Hi!

Good to hear from you Katy! Time is flying fast, isn't it!

Lucas is 9 months on Tuesday!!!
Sounds like Andrew is doing really well, picking out toys and caterpillar-ing around the house! Congrats on Andrew's first little teethy-peg. Very cute when there's a little thin tooth peeping through wub.gif Lucas doesn't seem to have 'teething' symptoms yet either.

Things are going well here. No crawling, but we've got our own little wins. Lucas is going really well with his physiotherapy, and is a wiz at sitting now, he can sit pretty much indefinitely. It's extra special as we didn't think that would happen for a long time yet!
He claps hands now (he started clapping to 'if you're happy and you know it clap your hands', but now he claps whenever I say 'clap hands!'), and he can also high five. We're slowly working on waving, and he's brilliant at peek-a-boo, covering him, me or a toy.
So it feels like we've got a bit of communication going on, which is just so so nice.

We're also trying to work on getting into and out of sitting. At the moment, he can't get to sitting on his own, and the physio is aware he may end up 'stuck in sitting'. He could also end up too heavy to crawl.

He's sleeping through the night (bliss!) and we're still breastfeeding and doing well here as well. I want to go until 12 months if possible, but I have to go back to work late in August, so it depends if I can express enough stores for the 15 days I'll be at work between going back to work and his birthday! (I'm only working a 5 day fortnight). Oh, and now he has 4 teeth (bottom centre two and top outside two), and two more about to burst through, he can really hurt while he's feeding now... that sucks. He's not biting, just scraping I think.

Food wise, we're going really well. L's been having some finger foods which he loves, plus lumpy purees. So far, he'll eat everything put in front of him (touch wood!) and is a definite little piggy.

Last week he was really sick with the flu, and he couldn't breastfeed, couldn't keep down solids and couldn't use his sippy cups, so we ended up in emergency at the hospital feeding him hydralite with a syringe. They made us stay until he weed, they thought it would take 30 minutes, but it took 4.5 hours, poor little dehydrated bubba. He's much better now, but I'm surprised how much weight he's lost - he's lost around 500g, which is heaps for a little one.

We've got our next paed appointment on Tuesday to find out the results of the EEG that Lucas had last month, so fingers crossed it's all good news!

I popped some pics in FB yesterday (I put them online to share with my uncle who lives in another state), and some of them are brand new pics, so you can see exactly how big my 'little' one is now wub.gif

Looking forward to hearing a little update from everyone else as well!
