DS11 is in grade 5 and his school has taken the grade 5 children around to local (ish) high schools... so far they have been to 4 schools,, DS only went to 3 as one was a girls school.
I'm wondering if anyone else kiddos schools are taking them on "tours" of sister schools (assuming they have them - I'm in suburbia). Is it normal? I sure don't recall doing stuff like that when I went off to high school.

He is off today to the school that we have chosen for him, (he is SO proud to tell everyone this is where he is going, so cute I could eat him!)

We've just started running transition activities for our feeder schools and often have students from year 4 up as we're semi-rural and have lots of smaller primary schools. One had only 6 year 6 kids so sent all of their upper primary along for the enrichment day.

We try to get our incoming year 6 students along to 4-5 activities at the school smile.gif Mini lessons, tours, concerts, parent information afternoons/evenings, creative arts day, peer support activities etc.

Yep It's normal. I know at our school the grade 4's now go on the tours because most of the grade 5 kids have already put in their applications and know where they are going before it gets to their turn.

I remember doing it when I was in primary school. smile.gif
