My photographer has asked me to make a collection of the types of photos I would like to have taken. What is your favourite photo or what do you regret not getting a photo of??

Some of my favourites are:

- A running shot from behind with my dress flowing out behind me.
- A shot of DH and I with both sides of the immediate family.
- A candid shot of DH's young cousin peering out from behind a pew during the ceremony.

In all, my favourites were the non-pose photos where the emotion was captured. I was disappointed with my photographer over all as she didn't put any art into the photos, but the ones I have kept were 'off-the-cuff'.

At the reception she also talked me out of getting individual table photos, which I now regret because some people weren't in the large group photos so I don't have a photo of everyone. She also took a whole heap of photos of the couples at the ceremony but none of the individuals, which is a shame because there were so many great people that missed out.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the tips!

nephthys - from the photos I've seen, I also prefer the "non-posed" ones, so I'll have to trust my photographer to capture the moments! I'm pretty confident she will! I definitely want to make sure we get a photo of everyone, but we are having a small wedding (30 or so adult guests) so hopefully that won't be too hard.

Monica and Calzo - gorgeous photos! Thanks for the inspiration.

Avery - thanks heaps - I thought I had done a search before posting the topic - obviously not!!! Just spent a good hour looking through them all!

My favourites are also non posed shots. They always seem to capture the emotion that posed ones don't - because you're trying to smile and not blink or whatever.

My three favourites are one of me giving my dad a hug and kiss at the end of the aisle just before he gave me away, one of me, DH, Dh's sister, his mum, his grandmother and his baby nephew - a non posed one where someone just managed to capture us all just standing together, smiling and enjoying the high just a couple of minutes after the ceremony, and my favourite one - DH's grandmother wasn't supposed to be able to make it to the wedding because of her health, we were so disappointed, and she turned up and surprised us. We didn't realise until just a minute after the ceremony we were getting hugs and congrats from all our guests and DH's cousin tapped me on the shoulder and I turned to see he had DH's grandmother with him and I just burst in to tears and hugged her and I was so happy when we got our photos to see that she had captured that moment, it was so special wub.gif

I really wish our photographer had gotten more non posed shots like that as we got about 70/30 posed/non posed and I would have loved more but if you really make sure your photographer knows exactly the style you are after (remind her heaps if you think you need to - I wish I had!) you should be ok!
