Sarkorska sorr to hear she didn't sleep well last night. I would leave her to sleep now. Although I know how it feels, I really want to wake Alex now for a feed but won't.
I'm abit upset, Alex was 3.18kgs at birth, on Thursday she lost 270grams, down to 2.91kgs & today she weighed in at 2.99kgs, she only gained 80grams. Alex is 9 days old.
The midwife said she was awake too long this morning & I wasn't feedng her right. I don't think I have been having many let downs, hey I didn't even really know what a let down felt like till she told me today. I really want to wake her now to try & have a let down.
DH has been so supportive & has held her for the last 2 hours while she sleeps, she too won't sleep alone. He said he is proud of me, it is so nice. But he goes back to work on Friday.
I came in to write a boo hoo poor me post, but couldn't let this pass -
You are doing a great job! You are working hard to feed your baby and you are doing everything you can to make sure she gets what she needs. It may not be perfect straight away, but keep working, you will both get there and she will thrive! And remember - a gain is a gain! She is only 9 days old - they like bubs to be back near birthweight at 2 weeks - that's 5 days and 200ish grams. And even that is just a guide! If she is gaining and happy, and you are happy and comfortable, then high 5! And if you're worried, maybe a lactation consultant or a call to the ABA would help? When I was pg I thought the ABA was kind of lame
but now I LOVE them. In fact I just got off the phone with the counseling service now!
Also - your midwife sounds like an unsupportive cow!
(sorry). Maybe some info on ways to help would be nice rather than telling you're doing things wrong.
Chin up and keep us up to date with how things are going. And rest lots - the more you rest, the better the world seems, AND it helps with milk production.
As for me (cue violins!): BLOCKED DUCTS. Multiple.Blocked.Ducts all at once this morning. They hurt like a bastard! There are about a dozen lumps in there (I thought it was supposed to be one at a time?) and 5 or 6 of them are so big you can see them poking up out of my boob. Boooo Hooooo.
