Hi There,

I've fallen in love with a particular cake design but people who make it have quoted me $800 to make it for 100 people!!! I'm looking for a cake maker who can copy the design exactly but won't charge me an arm and a leg. Can you recommend anyone who you used to copy a design you provided them with?

Many Thanks

Which part of Melbourne are you in?

I had a cake made in the south-eastern suburbs, which was kind of a copy of another cake (with some alterations). The actual cake was wonderful, and much, much cheaper than I had been quoted elsewhere.

I can PM you the details of the shop I went to, or - I will say this: the place was a regular cake-shop/bakery not a wedding-cake shop. Maybe just take your design around to a few and see what they say?

I found a picture I liked and then took it to a few places. Prices varied sooooo much it was crazy. I eended up paying $285 to feed 80 people, 2 flavours and some foam to add height, but save money. Oh, and the price included delivery to my reception venue.

The lady's name was Carolyn and she goes by the name of speci@l tre@ts by Carolyn-google her.

I would definately recommend her, and plan to use her for cakes again in the future (other occasions) she works from home which is why the price-I was quoted $700 for the same cake at some cake shops ohmy.gif

That's such a good tip! I've recently joined this forum and am just looking around for ideas and inspiration. Your cake lady sounds great, i'll be contacting her. Thanks for sharing smile.gif
