hello lovelies

self-indulgent post and bbl for personals i promise smile.gif

the little man is doing well - had to take a urine sample yesterday which i have to confess is far easier with little boys than girls - esp when you are aiming for a clean catch laugh.gif get the results back on mon so we'll see - he's a lot better and more settled - freaked out my GP though laugh.gif he pushes off with his legs, hold his head up and looks around, smiles wub.gif (started that about a week ago) and talks -that and my GP saw him last week and can feel the difference in his body weight from last week til this week, i didn't weigh him today as i'm saving that for monday as he's a month on tuesday *sob*

i have to start making more pockets for him as he's nearly outgrown the small covers i made him *double sob* but it saves me making covers for a friend whose pregnant atm laugh.gif

i saw my old counsellor today - she asked for my email address so she can 'keep up with the gossip' (in the end it was more like talking to a best friend than a counsellor iykwim) and she wants to commission me to do stuff for friends of hers that are pregnant at the moment - i think the universe is trying it's best to tell me to stop procrastinating already laugh.gif

Hiya mummas,

Finally in here.... I find that between feeds, sterilising, expressing, showering and trying to keep the house somewhat clean, I have very little time to i-do!

Things are going well here, Miss A is currently asleep (although due up at any minute), she has gained a whopping kilo since birth just over a month ago (where did the time go!), breastfeeding has its moments (who would have thought it would hurt or be so hard!) and DH is due back to work on Monday (I have been so lucky to have had him home for so long!).

Have enjoyed reading how everyone is going and promise to be back in here to reply to messages and for personals at some stage soon! And am also enjoying the Facebook site - thanks Olivia!

Mothers day this weekend....how lovely for us all to have our healthy little ones with us. Enjoy and cherish

Hi Girls

Just poping in for a quick hello.. Just about to go and have a shower while the little princess is sleeping...

We are also going well here... Amelia has self settled the last 2 nights, have been waking her up for a 2am feed and she sleeps thru til 6am when i get her up for another feed.. Just hoping she stays in routine for a while yet.. I havent had any sleep deprevation yet... I usually go back to bed after the 6am feed and get up around 9-9.30 before the next 10am feed...
Is anyone else reading the save our sleep book?? My mother thinks i am crazy for waking a sleeping baby... But this routine is really working for us at the moment.. + i am getting use to whthing at her cries mean.
DH goes back to work on Monday.. I so wish we win lotto so he doesnt have to go back to work at all...
I have my mother coming up to spend the next week with us...
+ We have that many appts coming up for Amelia's hips and heart so will be good to have someone lift the pram out of the car for me smile.gif

I also hope to be back later for personals and give u an update on how our little princess is going with her hips
ETA .. Speaking of our fb group.. I need one of our Admins to delete a member for me.... I have a friend of mine who joined the group who isnt an I-do April mum... Her name is Samara....

i'm not a fan of SoS at all in terms of the CIO and somewhat militant way her routines can get if you stick to the absolute letter of them - the basic theoy of a routine i'm down with - the girls were on a routineand you we woke them in the day until midnight then they would wake whenever - i don't use routine fed times with bf but they find their own groove here pretty fast

denelle - sounds like she's going great and i agree - who knew bfing is so hard? all i seemed to hear with molly was how easy it all was but it's not always easy, i found after 6w though with molly it did get a lot easier though after we both found our flow with it smile.gif

and because i can laugh.gif

Oh Sam, beautiful photos smile.gif

Just a quick check in - it sounds like everyone is doing really well with their little ones!

The last couple of days here have been hard.. she seems to have two witching hours where she just wont settle, gets overtired and then wigs herself out even more. Usually around 10am or 11am and then after 6pm. Its so heartbreaking to hear her cry and there be nothing I can do sad.gif

We're b/f here too.. technically demand feeding really. I wanted to do that til my supply sorted itself out.. it seems to work out 4hrly during the day and 3hrly during the night, although last night was 4hrly but that might have been because she was up screaming from 7pm - 10. Poor little mite. Want to move to something a little more predictable but not sure where to start?

QUOTE
Attachment isn't the best unfortunately, but she seems to be getting enough, and my nipples aren't faring TOO badly. Bit stingy at times, but we'll get there. I saw the Lactation Consultant at the hospital, and I *know* what we need to do in theory

Same story here. I know she's not on perfectly every time but its not her, its me not being able to steer her LOL. We're using the football hold with her sitting up so she can spit out the excess instead of drowning in my oversupply.

I want more photos of your babies biggrin.gif

sassa - have you tried expressing slightly before each fed or laying down to fed (not practical when out) - from memory chelle had to do this with aurelia due to oversupply (and upside is you have a stash of EBM as well) - i find laying down is much easier than sitting up i have to admit.

the first few weeks are a bit rough whilst everything 'toughens up' and you find the position comfy for you and them - i found hand expressing onto the nipples post fed and letting them air dry helped a lot with the stingy factor.

something else that might be going on with TJ is a growth spurt - happens around 2w and then 6w (when they recoup the lost birth weight with the first one) so that might explain the additional unsettledness.

Hi Girls

Things going well here, big morning at the park with friends, im stuffed! I must admit yesterday and day before I have felt crap! The worst I have felt in 5wks, guess all the excitement and baby high is wearing off. Just resting as much as I can. And daycare issues with master C that I am sorting through (post in general chat) so busy busy around these parts!

Big hi to everyone im off to read all your posts smile.gif

Aww Elyse, she's gorgeous! wub.gif

Happy Mother's Day everyone! So much more special for those enjoying their first!

Well, Heidi slept nearly 5 hours straight last night ohmy.gif after being awake for the best part of 7 hours dry.gif wacko.gif

I've started expressing off the left side for a bit, because I have a lovely cracked nipple (OWWWW). The bonus is... She took a bottle of EBM!!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif I still had to B/F her after, but that was a major break through!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day, and is thoroughly spoiled!

Happy Mothers Day mummas wub.gif ,

Another one with 5 hours sleep straight last night (but also after a 5 hours awake, 1 projectile vomit and 3 changes of clothes!) ph34r.gif .

Elyse, she is gorgeous! Hope the appointments for her hips and heart go well. Enjoy your mum's visit.

Bridget - I have had left nipple issues as well... are you right handed? My sister reckons that she read that the same breast as your dominant hand is the one you can breast feed best from.... Yay for Heidi taking the bottle of EBM.

Sassa - I got the vomit down my cleavage as well today....must have been a special 1st Mothers Day presnt for us tongue.gif Have a missed pics of Princess Tamsyn? We have those witching hours as well....not really today but last night was shocking! I just find that Anneliese will not sleep in her bed... she is happy to nap in the rocker, or be cuddled but put her in bed and you have a fight on your hands! Hope you get your oversupply/attachment issues sorted...I never would have thought breast feeding would be so hard. I think I have 'steering' issues as well.

Ems -I hope you feel better and you sort out the childcare issues. Rest as much as you can my dear... I am learning that too!

HSC - Yay Kaili slept for 6 1/2 hours - what did you put in her milk?? tongue.gif Is your mum still visiting?

Sam - breast feeding is getting a little bit easier...I think! How cute are those pics? It looks like James is being patted in the last one - precious!

Kirsten - have been looking at some of your pics on FB - the girls are just gorgeous.

AFM - got totally spoilt today and had a great family day. Anneliese organised for me to have breakfast cooked for me, had flowers waiting on the table, got me tickets to see Wicked the musical, organised a babysitter (MIL) for the night of the show and managed to get a photobook of her life and my pregnancy printed as well. wub.gif I feel totally spoilt and blessed (esp because she didn't have a witching hour today biggrin.gif ). DH returns to work in the morning so it will be a whole new ball game...I will miss having him around but I am sure Anneliese and I will find our groove! We have our first mothers group this week as well as an appointment with my obs and two visits from Nana, so it will be a busy week.

Hope everyone had a great day xoxoxox

Hi Girls

Hope everyone is well...

Amelia had her appt with an orthopeadic surgeon this morning and no longer has to wear her hip brace, there were no signs of dislocation or sublaxation after our scan last thursday, so her legs are not finally free... We bought a baby bath today so will give her a nice bath when DH gets home from work this arvo and put her in her first bonds wondersuit smile.gif
I also need to reschedule photos with a photographer up in Brissie now that she has her brace off.. Hopefully we can get them done next week

DH went back to work again this morning.. its weird not having him at home, but i'm guessing he would much rather be at home with his little girl.
I have mum here which is good, we did some shopping this morning and now have a chicken curry in the slow cooker.. I'm glad Amelia has her brace off as we wont need to go to the hospital every wednesday for a bath and a change of brace.. so it looks like it will be just me and Amelia next week smile.gif

Denelle - I find i am having issues with my right breast and that is the hand i write with.. I seem to get a lot more milk from my left than right, but i think the small size difference has something to do with it.
Glad to hear u have a mothers group all sorted! I have my first appt with the community nurse this friday so mite ask her about the go with mothers groups up here.

Sass - Would love to see some pics of Tamsyn smile.gif

HSC - Glad to hear u got 6.5hrs sleep!!
Amelia is doing well with the sleep as well, I'm getting sleep in blocks of 3.5-2.5hrs.. Which is good cause i know when she will be asleep and when she will be awake, as we are doing a routine... I dont think i could handle demand feeding

Bridget - Glad to hear Heidi is going well, and yay for the 5hrs sleep and taking EBM.. I find Amelia is easier to feed with EBM than straight breastfeeding.

How is everyone that had a cesarean going with ur recovery??
Ive had a little bit of bleeding from a spot on the stitch line, Spoke to the midwife and apparently it is normal... All the pain seems to be gone though.. But i must remind myself to keep taking it easy..
+ I feel like i'm starting to get the flu.. Sore throat has started.. Just hoping Amelia doesnt get sick now cause i think i sucked her dummy prior to giving it to her sad.gif

Ne way i best be off.. Need to organise baby photos smile.gif

Have a great day everyone!!
