Photographer = BOOKED! We met with him after work today and he was lovely. He showed us his albums and went through his packages and that was it - I wanted to book there and then. Since he's not from our town, I feel that he will have a different perspective on things and our photos will be different from the other local photographers - which I think it a good thing!

So when is this "designer" weekend? You must tell me all about it! I like the - you will never know if you don't go - attitude!

So if you are the person who is good at making cakes - why don't you make your own cake? Just an idea! tongue.gif

So sounds like you have a big family! Do they all live locally? My dad is in WA but my mum & brother live in Qld so they will need to make their way over here at the time. FH's family all live in the same town as us so we will definitely have way more of his family at our wedding. But it will mostly be our friends - we have so many!!! Had to be quite cut-throat with our list...

So is your sister going to be your MOH or one of your friends? My BFF is my MOH and she is the one who's been married and divorced! Funnily enough she is currently dating my FH's best man! Eeeek! I hope they last or at least not have a messy break up if it happens! Don't want any unnecessary tension on the day... wacko.gif

What a tragedy to lose your MIL like that. I hope your FH comes through this a stronger person and you cherish each other every minute of every day you are together. (and I hope you don't mind me saying that after only just meeting on here) wub.gif

Well the designer weekend is on the 29th of May - which I would have thought I'd have my dress picked a bought by then. You bring your favourite pictures, colours... everything you have collated in your 'wedding folder' and get a chance to sit with this person one on one for an hour while they give you suggestions for example styles to suit you, colours that suit your skin tone and they will design a dress for you. $500 off if you book and buy that night.

I thought about making my own cake, as well as making my own favours (bonbnerie SP?) for people. But I decided I'd rather leave the stress of it all up to someone else. I'm DIY girl and would 'take over' everything! I'd want to do it all by myself. which would me extra effort and stress blink.gif

Most of my family do live locally, which means I am in the middle of my parents adding extra family friends to my list. Eventually it got to way to many people that I could afford I said we'll just have to ask them to pay $30 towards meals in liue of a gift. (its the norm to ask that) But you must ALWAYS have an open bar. At my engagement party the drinks bill was around 3grand wacko.gif that was for beer and wine. Good thing I have enough time to save between a car and house loan.

My MOH is my sister - she seemed the easier choice after a falling out with a previous MOH. Which I thought would NEVER happen, but I saw how selfish she was and it was only till after the falling out happened that everyone said 'I told you she wasnt a good friend' Its been 9months and yesterday I said hello to her on facebook. I'm a people pleaser so My girls are getting the dresses they want and thank god they like the colour I chose.

Aaaahhh DRAMA!!! tongue.gif Its never in short supply, but I'm being upbeat about things... gotta keep the happy flowing! positive

Thank you for your 'love' we are getting through it all together, which had bought us all closer.

Drama drama drama...it seems no matter how smoothly or great the wedding planning seems to be - there's always drama! Mind you, I've always been bit of a drama queen! haha tongue.gif One of my recent dramas is one of my friends is getting married the day before me in Bali and when she found this out, she kept ringing me asking what we were going to do about it. I simply told her that I had picked my date and if she wanted to get married then too, then do it. We don't have a lot of mutual friends so it's not a big deal to me but she was carrying on like it was the end of the world. Kept making it my problem and I'm trying not to stress about things like that. If people can't make it to my wedding coz they are going to hers, it's not skin off my back. Less people I have to pay for! haha laugh.gif laugh.gif

May is a little while off and I'm with you - I would have liked to have already organised my dress by then...I guess if you find a dress you love then get it but if you haven't already done that by May then the designer weekend is a bonus for you. Did they say how long it would take for the designer to have it made etc? I know off-the-shelf dresses need to be ordered months in advance.

I understand your DIY overtaking skills! I'm the same - it's just easier if I do it myself!!! At least I will have it done my way - so you are right. Get someone else to do it and let them worry about it! Nice delgating!

We are still trying to decide if we want a drinks package or put an amount on the bar. An amount seems the way to go for us and when it runs out - too bad, everyone will just need to pay for their own drinks. Which most of our mates seem happy to do anyways. We bought all our drinks for our engagement party as we just hired a hall and had eskies around the place. And we had SO much left over alcohol which saw us through until after Xmas! (our engagement party was in October) And we only spent about $1000 on drinks too so that was a cheap way out of it...but it was also BYO so lots of ppl did bring their own.

Love the positive thinking!!!! Lots of that going around here!

Oh thank god it's the end of the work day! wacko.gif

Ooooh sounded like she expected you to fold and change your date wacko.gif I dont like people who try and make it YOUR problem and ask what YOUR going to do about it. Its the date you picked, I certainly wont change my day. Found out my cousin is having there wedding a month before and with Family in townsville they will only come to ONE wedding. I wasnt going to change my date to suit those few people (especially when i had picked and anounced mine first) Since then they have broken the engagement so I would have been fuming!! lol

I guess if I dont find my dress (or buy) before the designer weekend I'll go. But I think they said around 3-6months. To get a dress of the rack is around 6-8weeks wait. I'll see how it goes, I'll book an appointment in the bridal store I found my orignial dress and make a decision if it is the ONE.

In our small town if you give them a limit they always go over, becuase they just write it down and never calculate till the end. Half way through the night I approached the bar and asked if they had reached the limit and they didnt know. So next time I plan to just hand the money over and say if you go over its YOUR fault. So my planned 2kegs of beer and $200 worth of wine and soft drinks came to 3kegs of beer and $800 worth of wine and soft drinks plus $200 worth of water??? Ummm... wtf? No joke, I never went back there.

Being in a Hall we are just buying a whole heap of alcohol and well, once its gone theres no more... So we have to be careful, I may ask my local council about BYO. I think the Catering company believes they will be supplying alcohol (glad you brought this topic up I will see them and ask about it)

Wow that is some exxy water! laugh.gif

When we hired our hall for our engagement they told us that we could supply the alcohol and guests could BYO, so long as we were selling any. Made it pretty easy for us!

Yeah I'm definitely not moving my date...I'm even betting she moves hers again as she can be like that. Anyways, I've booked things now so it's pretty set in concrete...and makes it so much more real!

Today I booked some bridal gown places in Perth for next month. My mum is flying over the day before so I'm going to head up and stay overnight with my BM's and get some more pampering! Hopefully the dress I've already picked out is fabulous!

Sheesh it's late here...I really need to start going to bed earlier! dry.gif

Well, I'm going to sit back over the next few days and write down the "next steps" I need to take. I hate those inbetween periods when you arent progressing with planning but your thinking about what needs doing with no pen and paper infront of you.

I am sooooo afraid that I will forget things!! wacko.gif

Oh and hint, enter competitions... I was lucky enough to win a spending spree at Your Habitat through Brides Tasmania - $1000 worth. Turns out that only gets me a few plates as you only have a choice between certain things, But who cares its money I never had!!! tongue.gif

OMG congrats on your win!!! Great idea! When I'm bored at work I will enter as much as I can!

I found a wedding planning list in some mag and it's brilliant. Tells me when to plan what but you don't have to do it in that order, it just really helps to remember everything. biggrin.gif

Hi tashe!!! Glad to see another twinnie in here! Love hearing about your ideas for you wedding. Always helps to have friends who can do things in your wedding.

An update on me...we have asked our friend to be our DJ so that will help us out immensely. He won't have to do much official DJing until later in the night.

Also went wedding dress shopping on the weekend and I have found 2 dresses...how on earth do I decide which one????? wacko.gif One dress is the one I've had my eye on for 3 months now and the other one is the total Disney princess dress - it's even called Cinderella. ARGH so hard!!! I haven't got enough saved for a deposit for either one yet so I have some time to decide...hmmmm.... dry.gif

Welcome Emma to our little Group....

My update: I have Ordered my dress and paid in full!! Excited to get it, but I wont see it till Mid July sad.gif
Finally collected all the items I need to start my Invites (which I'm making myself) I have sent out the save the dates as there is a year to go... only to around 16 of the people as they live on the mainland The rest that live in Tassie can just receive their invites without ALOT of warning. I found out that I needed to Put "from" my mothers name as the person I was sending a save the date too wouldnt know who I am, which made me think... why are you getting an invite (Family, have to invite them all) rolleyes.gif LOL

Planning to meet with the photographer mid year, as its off peak season and he'd have more flexible free time.
Picking a caterer is hard as the one we were going with (that did a friends wedding 1year ago) is charging us $10 extra then they did my friend. So we are looking at other options (having the wedding in our local hall)
Looking at getting the local Fire Brigade Volunteers or Lions Club to serve at the bar, they accept Donations for that sort of thing.

The Bridesmaids dresses have not been chosen, My sister (MOH) seems to find something wrong with what I pick, and had the cheek to tell me "How could I let anyone wear Ugly BM dress" Grrrr tongue.gif to her!!

Pretty much on my own when it comes to organising things, no one is interested in helping me through the long hours of cutting and pasting my save the dates! (which after 3weeks are completed) My partner has been some what helpful. I give him tasks to do while he is on his days off and I am at work. Of course its been a month since I set an easy task of "telling your Groomsmen who they are" and it still took myself to ask them around and start the convo off to ask.... rolleyes.gif LOL
