Hi Ladies

I was wondering, are there any other netball players out there? Or coaches? Or Mums of players?

I played during the summer night season, our team was new to playing together so it took us half the season to get used to each other, so although we were on the level of the teams in the finals, we finished second to bottom. Oh well!

I am meant to be playing again winter season, but that depends on my knee, which I ever so cleverly buggered up in the last game of the summer night season.

I'm also going to be coaching!! I've got Juniors... I think I've got 12 & 13 year olds, I'm not sure yet.

This will be my first season coaching juniors. I've been a playing coach in summer night seasons years ago, but this is my first official coaching gig. I'm very excited!!

So, anyone else play or coach, or have a daughter who plays?

I'm a player! ( laugh.gif )

I've just started playing back for the first time since I had the boys. I played only until I was 7 weeks pregnant because I just wasn't feeling right - or safe - and then I found out it was twins anyway.

So I'm playing mixed on a Sunday night and am playing my first game of ladies netball tomorrow morning with a new team. Bit nervous actually, and I can't find my skirt. I can't even think of where it might be - the last time I had it was about 3 moves ago back in 2005 or 2006. Mixed and indoor I've been allowed to wear shorts or whatever. So the team have offered to lend me one, luckily.

I started playing in prep in 1988. How long has everyone else been playing for?

Hey Em

I've played on and off for years since I was in primary school.

For the last 4 years it has been indoor social mixed and ladies. I used to play twice a week but have only just decided to give it up as my back just can't handle it anymore.

I really do miss it though.

Just think with your team that you weren't at the very bottom and the only way is up!

I wish I could play again sad.gif

Hey girls,

I have been a player since i was 13, so nearly 15 years....
I was also an umpire for about 8 years & a coach for about 3 years.

I have recently gone back to playing regularly after having the twins (i have played on & off since having them but this is first time back on a weekly basis) I am enjoying it as its witha group of friends & we play for fun, some teams think we are playing for sheep stations & take it soooooooo seriously!

Last season was our first season together & we ended up making the grand final & winning againsta team that i didnt like (youg girls who all think they are sharelle mcmahon & get the shits when the umpiring doesnt go their way, who show off like its a game for a million dollars....)
This season we have move up a grade & we arent doing all that well, but i dont care, im really having fun & cant wait to go & play every week even though we are getting beaten.

Anyway I have always enjoyed netball, might even have to look at getting back inot umpiring to make some extra $$$$$

Well I'm not actually coaching littlies like I thought, I've got 13 year olds!

Training hasn't even started and I've already been abused by a Mum. It didn't even cross my mind that I'd have to deal with difficult parents.

Its the usual "she should be playing in a higher grade" thing.

We have our first training on tuesday night, so I'm busy preparing!! I'm really looking forward to it.

My knee is getting better, but I don't think I'm going to be right for the beginning of the season, which is in 4 weeks sad.gif

Rude. I think that parents just aren't as supportive as they used to be. What did you say? I would have taken the line that she will have to prove herself then before even considering it.

I just got back from a game. I'm playing three times a week now. My Thursday night game is at an indoor sports centre with the nets the whole way around, so no stopping! Feeling a bit pooped actually. We cleaned them up, 23 to 2. I hate it when that happens in grading games.

Got my next game at 9.30am tomorrow in "housewives league" laugh.gif

I'm a player also. Last year I was playing Mon/Tues/Wed nights (all indoor - mixed on Monday nights and ladies comps on Tues/Wed). I was also umpiring Tues/Wed nights for extra $$ which was great until I was diagnosed with hearing loss and my ENT surgeon advised I had to give up the umpiring sad.gif there goes all that nice spending money - but at least I'm saving my hearing tongue.gif

We ending up dropping our Monday comp for lack of guys wanting to play (or who were consistent in showing up dry.gif ) and Wednesday nights there was just no competition (bit like your game [23 - 2] ClaireBear), so we ended up canning Wed nights too.

So just Tuesday night comp these days and not for much longer. I'm currently 15w3d preggers and with 7 weeks left in this comp before finals I just can't see myself making it to the end. Which means leaving earlier rather than later so we can have someone fill in for the necessary 5 weeks to qualify for finals. sad.gif Am hoping for a little girl this time around so I can have my little netty player. I would love to coach my own little girls netty team wub.gif

I'm gonna miss my netty and already can't wait to get back into it after bubs come along. I know it'll be a great way to shed some of the extra kilos I'll be piling on!

Went and saw the QLD Firebirds play the NSW Swifts on Sunday at Gold Coast Convention Centre - great game. But boy are they rough! Went with my SIL and niece (and her friend) who are 7 and it's such a shock to them compared to what they play. I know I was shocked and wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of some of those elbows wacko.gif Was a terrific game though!

Bumping this up as I have just started to play again after 9 years out.

We just completed round 4 tonight and up until tonight we were undefeated. We lost tonight by only 2 goals.

I am a shooter which I enjoy. I can also play keeper and WD/WA.

I am really loving it!

My happy little boy!

After years of playing/umpiring/coaching, I now pretend to play indoor netball. I find it dreadfully fast, but my fitness is slowly improving.

This is our second season as a team and so far we haven't won any games which is ok, because we're only doing it socially. Upsets a few of the highly competitive teams wink.gif

I alternate between GD/GK and GA/GS, depending on who is playing on the night.
