Hi everyone,

I decided to have a makeup trial with a local artist at my home on Saturday and was fairly impressed with what she came up with (I suggested a few things which she was really happy to do) and considering I'm not a makeup person, I didn't want anything over the top or something that wasn't me.

IPB Image

My only problem was the foundation she used and how it was really tacky on my forehead (I had to swipe it lightly a couple of times to make it look nice) and how it made my skin feel like it couldn't breather ... I don't know, maybe this is how liquid foundation is meant to feel?

Anyway any advice would be really nice. I'm getting my eyebrows tinted as I really think I need that extra colour. Oh sorry about my hair's re-growth, hehe.

I think you look lovely Nae, very natural looking. Do you normally get your brows tinted? I think it would look better with a bit of colour too, but not too dark (I remember once I wanted a tint and they did it darker than what I wanted!!!).

I would also consider a smidgen more colour on your eyelids to give a bit more depth (you could go for a natural brown/bronze), however if that is really not what you're going for, then leave it.

Did the make up artist put powder over your foundation? This should set it and get rid of some of that tacky feeling. It sounds like the foundation is very thick or something... Remember, use powder without reflectives in it!

Wow Nae I think you look stunning! "Natural Beauty" is first thing that comes to mind blush.gif I love how natural looking the make-up is and how it doesn't look painted on or fake in any way?

I think that the eyebrow tinting might be a good idea too but only very light. Have you got time to have a test run between now and the wedding to make sure that it is the right colour for you? And is there somehwere that you have been before and can trust to do exactly what you want for the wedding? If no to either of these its probably best to play it safe and not do it rather than take a risk too close to the wedding and not be happy with it.

Only other suggestion is maybe a tiny bit more colour on the lips, especially if you were thinking of getting your eyebrows done? Just trying to think of the 'lasting effect' of make-up on the wedding day (for photos etc) and how if its a bit pale to begin with it might wear off a bit more through the day especially with all the kissing! laugh.gif

You will be a beautiful bride I'm sure! wub.gif

You look gorgeous Nae.. Such beautiful skin.

I know you said you like your make up natural, but bear in mind that sometimes without some definition, a person can look really washed out in pics.

I would recommend maybe a little more colour around the eyes. You don't have to go dark, but just some more colour, perhaps stick with the brown if thats what you are comfortable with. And some eyeliner really frames the eyes and makes them pop... I would add a little extra colour to your cheeks aswell. Just a touch.. And I agree with the girls re:eyebrow.

You are such a natural beauty.

Wow Nae - Looks Amazing! I agree with happy.gif though, I think that you need a little colour around your eyes. You can look at a few different options including a little definition by using a liner around your eyes. I think that is the only thing that would need to be considered. Everything else looks amazing smile.gif

Thanks girls for all the lovely comments.

I've had my eyebrows tinted a couple of times in the past but due to them being fair, the final result has always been darker than expected. I'll get them done around a month before the wedding just so they can fade if they end up being too dark.

I think the idea of playing up my eyes a little more with the brown is a good idea however I don't think I would go darker on the bottom lashed just because my eyes are small and the more used the small my eyes will look.

She didn't use a powder on my face but did use a setting spray which she said would 'set' the makeup 'in place' around 40mins after spraying. Oh, she also suggested some sort of paper to use durig the day if i need touch ups. The lipstick colour I'll leave as she made it darker to begin with and I hated it.

Thank you all again. Now I have to work out my hair ohmy.gif

I'd say she would be talking about "blotting paper".

Interesting, with the setting spray.. If it were me, I would consider having a compact of powder with me, if she doesn't use it. Can be handy to just lightly just over your make up a little, especially if it's a warmer day so you don't look too shiny.

I use the blotting paper at times, but will still lightly dust some powder over the top. Just refreshes your make up. biggrin.gif

Blotting paper is great, I used it on my wedding day also. Helped freshen my face and then I lightly dusted my face with pressed powder.
