Hey Ladies and.. Gents?

I know this website is wedding related, however after looking everywhere this is probably my last resort. I am trying to buy a female friend Tulips for her birthday in early Feb. They are her favourite flower so rather than just buying some flowers that are nice, i'd rather buy Tulips as i know shes going to like them.

My question is though, I know you can get Ice Tulips all year round and I am not really worried about the cost. I just can't find anywhere that sells Tulips online which doesn't say they're out of season. I know its likely ill have to get them from a wedding related store.

I was just wondering if anyone had purchased Tulips for their wedding bouquets etc and had any suggestions where someone in Perth might be able to get hold of tulips out of season?

Thanks in advance

Brad

I wish I could help you, but just wanted to say I feel your pain! I wanted Tulips for my wedding bouquet but was told although I could get them in November, the weather would be too hot and they would not look their best. I'm pretty sure they are a winter flower... heat really isnt their friend sad.gif But I really really hope you can find some, and that they knock your girl off her feet smile.gif

Yeah I know in America theyre grown 365 days a year for weddings and things, was hoping someone in Australia would do something similar. They are her favourite flower which is why i want them so much. I figure they'd be at her office for most the day and then at her home for the rest of the day so the aircon would keep them cool and a couple of days of her favourite flower would probably be better than more days of something else. tongue.gif

Guess i'll look into other things, I do love the look of pink oriental lilies

And I'm guessing despite them not being her favourite, any flowers should still brighten up her day

My florist said she could get tulips at any time of year, she just had to change watch variety. It would cost a packet though and she needed notice to order them but it was possible.

bradley, slightly off topic... tell me to bugger off... or can you tell us about the friend?! Are you trying to impress her? Or are you JUST friends!

Hmmm its a weird situation I guess. I am trying to impress her... we've been pretty close for a while.. We talk daily etc and I like her (probably more than i should blush.gif)

She doesn't know that I know her favourite flowers which is why i want tulips so much. I guess it isn't a big deal because if I buy her any flowers she will be happy, but if i buy her flowers she loves, shell be happier. I know that must sound pretty corny tongue.gif

I emailed her work friend who works on reception to get the address, so I'll get them delivered to her work which I figure should brighten up her day

Any reason you ask, mmmmcake?

because apart from the odd romantic, a lot of guys wouldn't even think of a woman's fave flower unless he wanted to make a good impression. *sigh* how sweet! I can't wait to hear how much she loved them.
I love hearing about romances etc. smile.gif Good luck!!!!

Admittedly I am a little old fashioned for a 21 year old but I like this girl smile.gif Unfortunately she is a little bit insecure due to past relationships which ended in her getting cheated on; so it's taking a little bit of time to prove how I feel about her.

I had a chat to a couple of florists today. Apparently tesselaar sell greenhouse Tulips out of season in early to mid Feb. With a bit of luck I should be able to get them. Fingers crossed! Waiting for a couple of calls back tomorrow to confirm the exact dates they think theyll be available in Western Australia before i get my hopes up smile.gif

OKAY! Tulips will be here! The question is, I really like the flower arrangement that had the pink lilies in it.

do i get her something like which has tulips in it, and they are the main flower (her favourite flower and show that i care)
Tulips

or do i go out on a limb, buy her something that i think looks better? tongue.gif
Pink Lilies

if i bought the tulips in a bouquet id send a vase to her work in advance that the receptionist (her work friend) could store there for me wink.gif

Well if tulips are her favourite I personally would get the tulips. I think it would mean more to her to get her favourite flowers.

Hope everything works out for you wink.gif

Oh how sweet wub.gif

If her favourite flower is tulips, I would get those. Just be aware that they don't last well in the heat so she may not have them for too long.
Also the lilies have an extremely strong fragrance and alot of people find it overpowering (especially in a closed environment like an office). I don't know if she would or not, but it is something you need to consider if you are leaning towards the lily option.

So lovely to see a guy going above and beyond.

If my hubby ever bought me flowers my first reaction would be "what have you done" ahahahaha, can you tell the old married couple.

I LOVE THE LILLIIES, but they are my fav flower.

You have made a good choice with the tulips.
