Miss Sarajevo by U2 and Pavarotti
The other significant ones that come to mind are as follows:
Dream Catch Me - Newton Faulkner (There is something about this song that wrenches at my heart. It was released about the time that my 'heart' dog Ruby passed & I heard it on the radio one night shortly afterward. The song just spoke to me and reminded me of her so much. The fact that I would dream about her hit home, hence why this song just speaks to me.)
Halo - Beyonce (I would have to say this is her masterpiece song in the way she gives so much soul to it)
American Boy - I cannot stop bopping & singing at the top of my lungs whenever I hear this song. And at the risk of sounding obsessed about my heart dog, this song was released a few weeks before she passed. I remember taking her to work with me one morning to take her to the vet nearby. This song came on the radio, so I sang it to her the whole way to the vet..
Spare me the details - The Offspring (when I am in the car by myself I sing this as loud as I can banging the steering wheel)
Angel - Sarah McLachlan (played at my biological mother's funeral. She was such a troubled soul, this song fitted the moment perfectly, but I cannot listen to this song without bawling esp as I pinned a 'guardian angel' on her lapel moments before the funeral started, so it was like a msg from her as I had no idea of the songs the other sisters selected to play.)
Somewhere over the rainbow - Israel ? (This song always reminds of the dr with the glasses on that hit show years ago ER?/Chicago Hope? when he dies at the end from cancer. Thinking about it makes me tear up even now)
The way you look tonight - just a beautiful soul touching song. Simply love it!!
Oh and last one.... Superstar by the Carpenters (Karen Carpenter would have to have the most beautiful liquid, soft but emotional & mature voice I have ever heard in a female singer)
I feel a bit emotional after this thread!!
