Yay Hayli! Can't wait to join you in here once our little one arrives. So how is Louis settling in and what does Annabelle think of her new little brother?

So excited we have this thread! biggrin.gif

Things are going well so far. But then, hubby is still home so I have back-up tongue.gif . I'm a little worried about how I'll manage once he goes back to work. I'm thinking of putting Louis on one of Tizzie Hall's routines so I can manage them both. Tonight I had him sitting in the bouncer while I bathed Annabelle, since he decided it wasn't bedtime then. Annabelle still hasn't properly settled. She's reeeeally clingy to hubby and quite whingy, but hopefully that settles soon. She's still sleeping well through the night which is GREAT, although, I spend a lot of time awake with Louis. He eats, poops, eats some more, poops some more, I burp him, he wants more to eat, I wrap him, feed him, get ready to put him back to bed, then he poops again! blink.gif It can take up to two hours for this routine to end with him finally asleep in bed. But then he'll sleep for four hours, so at least I'm getting a block of sleep.

Annabelle LOVES Louis. She always wants to hold him and touch him. But she has a short attention span. After a while, she tries to shove him away as if to say, 'I've had enough now, you can have him.' laugh.gif

I'll try and post my birth story soon, I've started writing it, it's just finding the time to finish it. blush.gif

I can't believe how many November babies have arrived already! And it isn't even mid-November yet! Won't be long now and we'll all be on this side. smile.gif

How is everyone going? How are those babies?

Louis has really started snacking. Today he has pretty much been feeding on and off all day. I'm feeling a little exhausted wacko.gif , plus I haven't had much time to play with Annabelle. I need to get him into a better feeding habit. So, I started offering the dummy a bit more. ph34r.gif I was OK with him not taking to the dummy initially, thinking great! One less thing I'll have to wean him off. But, I really will need him to settle better once hubby goes back to work. I dont want him to constantly snack off to sleep.

On the plus side, he's certainly gaining weight! He's up to 3.8kg already! He was born at 3.3kg.

Those of you with boys, did you have problems keeping them dry in nappies in the early days? I'm having to buy more outfits for Louis as he keeps wetting through. I've stopped using the Aldi nappies someone gave me, as they're far too big for him. Huggies are a better fit, but he still leaks through. Any tips? He does have awfully skinny legs wub.gif so maybe that's got something to do with it.

Looking forward to chatting with you all about our beautiful babies. wub.gif

I've only just seen this thread. I'll join!

Charlize so far has been an angel. The last couple of nights she seems to have a feed around 10:00, sleeps for 4 to 4.5 hours, has another feed, goes back to sleep and doesn't wake until around 6:30am. Now that I've said that, I hope I haven't jinxed myself. Taia used to wake every 2 hours.

One of her eyes has started to become a bit gunky. Do you what this could be? It's been too long in between my daughters to remember everything.

Sorry Hayli, can't really help you on the boy front but Charlize has also leaked the once. She has really skinny legs too so I'm thinking that's what it could be.

Shari - with the eye it could be a blocked tear duct. Cate used to get those too. Are you breastfeeding?? A little bit of breastmilk into the corner of the eye helps and there is a "massage" you can do to help unblock the duct too. Maybe do a google search as it is a bit hard to explain without showing you.

Glad to hear the bubs seem to be settling in OK.

We were at the doctors today and my poor little bubba has conjuctivitis. We've got some drops to give her so hopefully it clears it up quickly.

Woohoo I am back in the land of internet connections!

Welcome to all the little babies.

Abbey, so far has been a dream baby, we have had a wonderful 2 weeks together, although I know things can change.

She has not put on much weight since birth but she is certainly a very healthy, active little baby. She was lifting her head in the hospital and she has now rolled twice from her tummy to her back.

We had major feeding issues in the beginning, I had little (read NO) supply and flat nipples and she was a little too enthusiastic, resulting in blisters etc., so I have had to switch her to formula. I was expressing what I could, (5mls in half an hour) then topping her up with formula but that was far too time consuming so I made the choice to formula feed. Not something that I wanted to do, but hey, we are much less stressed now!.

Shari - Hope Charlize's eye clears soon

Hayli - Abbey has had a few wee leaks, she does not have particularly skinny legs and given my inexperience with nappy changes (Her nappy was the first I had ever changed) I put it down to me not putting it on right.

Shari - Poor Charlize sad.gif Louis has a blocked tear duct (I think...) it began last week, but cleared up by the time we had a doctor visit Monday rolleyes.gif and now it's back. But Annabelle had the same thing. I might try and go back to the dr's tomorrow. I hope Charlize continues that wonderful feeding/ sleeping routine she has going.

Vanessa, I'm so glad you've had a lovely two weeks with Abbey wub.gif She certainly sounds like she's doing well! Rolling already! I'm glad all your feeding issues have been resolved. Certainly nothing wrong with formula, as long as Abbey is feeding that's what's most important! smile.gif

We just managed to get Louis off to bed. The poor possum took the last few hours to bring up some wind. He was very upset sad.gif . Hopefully now, he's so tired he sleeps for 4-5 hours! tongue.gif On the good side we picked up our pram today! Yay! I can finally go out with the two of them in a pram. We have a sling, but I'm looking forward to using the pram - The P&T is so compact! It took hubby about 10 minutes to set it all up. I've even found some funky pram liners for it (Mini Happy Me... anyone else heard of it?)

Must be the day for it Hayli, Abbey has been really windy all afternoon and unusually cranky, but she has settled off to sleep in her pram next to me then it will be off to bed for us after her next feed, which will be whenever she wakes up next.

Enjoy getting out and about with your pram, I think I am unusually fond of mine, I am in love with it! So easy to steer and given I don't have a car I kind of need her to have an easy to use mode of transport. As for pram liners, I am currently just using a folded up flanelette wrap.
