I'm at the halfway point till the application for my divorce can go through & I'm counting down & getting excited about it. My marriage wasn't very plesant which is what contributes to this.

Sometimes I think maybe I should be grieving about it in some way, but I'm not. I just want that part of my life out of the way... dead & buried. I am dissappointed in the fact that I had a marriage breakdown in my life, but not that the marriage broke down... if that makes sense.

Did anyone else get really excited ? Am I weird ???? rolleyes.gif

I can't believe my big girl is in year 9 and my baby is in year 5!!! The fun begins with high school... OH NO

You're never promised tomorrow... so enjoy today & if you're lucky, you can enjoy tomorrow.

Not weird at all hun. When I found out the date mine will be finalised we were very excited too. I had already grieved the relationship so just wanted it to be finalised.

Mum of three. Some I get to hold in my arms...all I get to hold in my heart.

If your parent dies, you are an orphan. If your spouse dies, you are a widow.
But if your baby dies... there is no word for that.

I counted down the months etc too and really looked forward to that chapter in my life being closed.

That said, when the divorce papers were served, and then when I received the Certificate of Divorce, I burst into tears and was felt really upset about it. My partner at the time thought I was stupid for crying dry.gif but I just needed to to release that pent up emotion.

Our marriage wasn't a particularly bad one, and divorce was definitely the right answer for us, but going through it was a bit of a whirlpool of emotions.

I don't think it's strange.

When I was nine, my mum had a divorce party. She saud that we celebrate other major life stages (birthdays, weddings, christenings), so why not a divorce? smile.gif

I think maybe when I get my certificate I might have a little cry I guess. I am upset that I had a marriage breakdown cause it definately wasn't my plan to get divorced in my life, just not upset to be divorcing him.

I think I was grieving the breakdown long before. As far as I was concerned my marriage was over a long time ago. By the end I wasn't in love with him because he dominated me so much & my whole life including if I could see my parents & family was decided by him.

Just glad to be in charge of my own life again & knowing that Im worth something.

I totally know that feeling, Ali smile.gif I think my tears when I got the certificate etc were just my final release of emotions to close that chapter of my life.

Like you, getting divorced was not something I ever planned on doing, but it was the right thing for me to do.

Your last sentence completely and utterly rings true for me too smile.gif It's the best feeling in the world smile.gif

Ive never been divorced but I remember seeing a girl at work and commenting how happy and together she appeared lately. She told me shes so happy because shes getting divorced. So it must be a release. Good on you ladies for taking control of your lives and chasing happiness!

Ditto to this MsGems, i cried when it was final - but again - only as you never enter a marriage hoping it will fail. But i wanted the divorce and am now exceptionally happily married to the most wonderful man of my dreams!
