Hi V

Just wondering how you were going? Sam has now dropped his day sleeps except if we are on a long day trip in the car where he will wake up as soon as we stop...be it 5 mins or 50mins after he falls asleep...wont go back to sleep after that...

Hey Lil

Things are a bit hit and miss at the moment. I think it's a bit of a transition time really. He spends 2 days a week at my mums and asks to have a sleep most of the time there! At home it's another story. He won't stay in bed unless I lie down with him now (day and night), so the days that I want him to have a sleep (read: I need to have some 'mummy' time desperately) I keep him up until Z goes down for her afternoon nap, lay down with him until he falls asleep and then go and have my me time. Means he takes longer to sleep at night those nights, but I'm happy with that. The days he doesn't have a sleep I just make him have quiet time watching a DVD. No toy playing, just resting on the lounge. That way I get a bit of a rest too.

He's particularly clingy at the moment and I'm not sure why. I hope it passes soon as it's not fun for my hubby who feels a bit rejected and it's exhausting for me. He used to self-settle most of the time for the first few years of his life and then he started off in the big boys bed well and the last few months have been a nightmare.......Thankfully Miss Z is easy to put down and is for the most part MUCH better at night than she has been the last 8 months.

Sounds like a lot of hard work for you Virginia. Have you talked to the early childhood health centre? They might be able to give you some pointers.

I know where you're coming from about needing some "me" time. I don't really ever get any and sometimes it's just awful. You feel like you're losing your identity and that you only exist for others.

Just remember that things will get better. Sometimes we just need to give it a little "shove" along!
