Hi everyone,

I am looking for a reasonably priced reception venue in the south perth area ie- rockingham mandurah etc.

We are on a very tight budget, so if any one has any ideas for me i would really appreciate it!
I am also looking for a photographer.

please help!! smile.gif

Hi Girls
Don't forget to use the PM facility to recommend wedding service providers to other members!!

And if you do find a venue from one of the helpful i-do forum girls please let the venue know!!

Thank you and happy planning!! smile.gif

Leonda Function Centre on the South West Hwy was quite reasonable from memory, check out their website, could be under Tumblegum Farm

Hi manda09,
Welcome aboard the i-do train! As a 'local', for the budget conscious, the cruising yacht club on the Rockingham foreshore is really good, excellent menus and drinks packages (less than $70 pp!)and the function room is upstairs and overlooks the ocean. Dolphins at sunset and stunning views. We checked it out and it was number 1 on my list, but now we've gone location down south. You need a 12 month membership (which is only $120 i think) but that pays for itself when most places want $700+ for venue hire!
The Meadow Springs Golf Club was also another fave, didn't even know it existed till I started researching!
The Clansman on the river on the Halls Head side was also fantastic, and you can arrive by boat if you wish, and accomodation is very close with the Quest.
I've deliberately not mentioned all the usual resorts and wedding reception places, as I found them to be dearer, some of them a lot!
Depending on your numbers, you could arrange a set price deal with your fave local restaurant on the Quay/foreshore, or even one of the Bouvard Cruises boats. The big one Dolphin Queen, I think, has pics in the bar area of on board weddings, but you need to book your own caterers, like Prestige or someone.
Goodluck with your planning, and if we can help, we will!

We got married north of Perth and had our reception in Marmion at a fishing club of all places.

Fishing clubs or boating/yacht clubs are always great value for money and I don't think you can go past a water venue.

Good luck - its gorgeous down there...

Hi Manda,

Welcome to the website!

We originally started planning our wedding in the Mandurah area as it’s convenient for everyone attending however, we have now changed our mind on the location and I still have numerous amounts of information on the area that you may find useful.

Check out the massive park area in Lakelands for your ceremony; many couples use this area to get married and the permission cost is only $20.00. You may also be interested in viewing Peel Manor House which is located in the wine district of the Mandurah/ Rockingham areas; it’s beautiful! As for reception venues, the marina on the Mandurah foreshore has many lovely restaurants and even if you venture a little bit further south you can find something (i.e The Cut).

Photographer, I have a friend who does photography and depending on when you are getting married she might be able to do pictures for you at a fantastic rate (she’s due for a baby in February/ March 2010).

Check out ‘Sugar Tree’ in Mandurah for cakes too. I’ve only recently found this shop and besides specializing in cakes they also have a good range of Cristina Re products if you are wanting to DIY invitations (this is where I got all my stationary). You can also hire a whole range of wedding items.

That’s all I can think of at the moment.

I found their cakes REALLY expensive, but I find the whole wedding cake price range pretty freaky. ohmy.gif

I attended a wedding at the Meadow Springs Golf Club a few years ago and it was a great night, really yummy food.

Mandurah Party Hire has a range of centrepieces, chair covers etc if you need them and they are reasonable prices.

Cost Plus in Mandurah have a good range of papers etc. for invites

I am Nae is right about the park in Lakelands, its an excellent location!!!!

If you are happy to move away from the coast, Fairbridge Village was a good option as well. The have a chapel or garden to get married in if you like for a fee and a range of options for the reception. It also has the added bonus of on site accommodation for all your guests, at cheap prices!! The menu sounded delicious and alcohol was BYO I think !!

If you didn't want to pay to have the ceremony at Fairbridge by the river in Pinjarra is beautiful or you could try Edenvale, a historic house and garden.

D

Give the Mandurah City Council a ring and they will be able to sort you out. Another great venue I remembered this morning was the Halls Head yatch/sailing club. It's next to Doddie' s Beach, it cost $600 to hire 3 years ago and has tables, chairs, toilets, a kitchen etc as well as a great grassed area that runs into the beach. A friend of mine had it booked for her wedding that didn't end up going ahead, she was going to have the ceremony on the beach then the reception outside on the lawn with lanterns and bali flags etc. Would have looked terrific and she had the hall for wet weather back up.

Hi Manda,

Lakelands Park is beautiful! We actually enquired about the useage of the park a couple of months ago; I dare say the permission cost hasn't changed. Like Tallulah said, all you need to do is contact the Mandurah City Council and they will pre-book the date.

I won't be using my friend for our photography; her baby is due around our wedding date. If you want her contact details let me know and I will PM you.

Tallulah - I didn't look into their cakes prices. Each time I've gone into the store they have between 2 - 3 brides ordering cakes so I just assumed they must be fairly well priced. Its a great store though =)

I Am Nae - I just can't get my head around the price of wedding cakes, I am sure they are in line with other cake makers, I love the big sea themed cake they have on display, it's gorgeous!! Im so stingy about cakes we are only spending $100 tongue.gif My H2B's workmates Mum is making it. Sugar Tree is a great store though!!!

Hey guys thanks so much for all your help!

Really really appreciate it.

Have any of you heard of the barnyard reception centre? It's in Baldivis.

Might be tad late, but the East Freo Yacht club is quite cheap and is supposed to be quite good

As for cakes, we got a cake for our engagement from Che@secake Shop for around $80, single layer but decorated beautifully!

The Barnyard's on the Old Mandurah Road, it seems like the middle of nowhere. It looked a little tired I thought when I went there a couple months back. And smaller than I remembered it sad.gif The food was OK, but slow. It's changed hands several times in recent years, and even closed for a while. With the separate lounging area, could work for a smallish wedding, but you'd definitely want to check it out. Now the Vernon Arms on the other side of the driveway...well, the sheer size of the crowds every single day is the answer!

Hey jensmum,
Thanks for that but the only problem is that the vernon arms don't do weddings. Did you have a look at the actual function room? It's seperate to the restaurant?
It's completely different, it has a elizabethan style 18th century interior.

Hey Manda09, did you see the pics and write-up on the Barnyard in this week's local paper? It looks like new management splurging on an advertising campaign. And a girl on another forum (WA) just had her reception there and said it was all great.
