The best present I got was a "Just In Case" package put together by my best friend. It had things that you might need at an inopportune time and not be able to go to the shops to get. The things in it were: baby panadol, teething gel, nappy rash cream, Lansinoh, dummies and I've suddenly blanked on the rest.

I put together a slightly different one for SIL that had the above in it, plus some Ural and ultra plush pads for hospital, a baby relaxation CD and nice nursing pads (not the crappy plastic backed ones).

I just put in things that we found good that they could try if they wanted. There's nothing worse than discovering you need (in my case) Lansinoh and it being Anzac Day with all the shops shut. Atleast DH could get it from home.

Oh, and parenting/baby books like Baby Love or Kidwrangling are always appreciated.

2 girls made me a Very Hungry Caterpillar baby quilt - it is gorgeous! I have been using it as a playmat...but as Aidan is starting to move, I'll use it as a quilt now.

I received heaps of clothes in 000 sizing and Aidan grew very quickly, so clothes in 0 and size 1 would be great gifts!!

Toys and Books are always great pressies too

I just had my baby shower on Saturday...hmmmm...my best present???? It's so hard to decide...

These are my top 5 (LOL sorry I couldnt whittle it down any more!)

1. My friend did a box (it's about shoe box sized, brown) that she had decorated herself with like scrapbooking like stuff. It has "Baby ... (our last name)" on the top, boy and girl things on it (we dont know what we're having) and it's just beautiful!!! It's a keepsake box that I can keep all bub's stuff in (like thier little hospital cap, hospital name tags etc etc) I wub.gif it!!

2. My mum put together a hamper basket full of stuff for just me - new pyjamas, undies, towel, hair towel, body washes, sponges, moisturises, face cleansers, shampoo, conditioner, nail stuff, face and hair masks...just heaps of stuff. It was so nice!

3. A friend gave me the baby bath that I wanted which I was stoked about

4. I know it's a bit boring, but I love love love all the ones where my friends had made up baskets / hampers with all practical stuff - towels, face washers, nappy wipes, baby shampoo, baby bath, paw paw ointment, baby panadol etc. They are stuff that I am going to use HEAPS of and now I have a great supply.

5. A friend gave me a gift certificate for a full facial, so I am going to get that done once I go on maternity leave.

They're probably my faves, but really I loved everything - got heaps of cute clothes and toys too - I was super, super spoilt wub.gif

Sorry I couldn't be more specific, but hope it was a bit helpful!!

Best pressie I got was a homemade baby first aid kit - it had EVERYTHING you could possibly need, want or could even think of, but best of all it also came with instructions for everything! She had colour coded every item (i.e., pink strip around one item, and then instructions written in the same pink) and wrote out not only exactly how to use it, but when you would need to use it, what you could and couldn't use it with, and other things to try before, during, and after you use the item.

Best. Pressie. Ever.

What an awesome gift! I know something like this would be wonderful to receive and so much thought put into it.

This too is awesome. You don't get much time to yourself when baby arrives and washing your hair is almost impossible. But to have new PJ's, undies, dressing gown, towel would be just pure luxury.

My idea would be to get a gift voucher for photo printing or if she can print her own at home, a hamper with ink cartridges and paper so she can do it herself. You never really get around to printing out the millions of photos you take of them.

Wow Loz that sounds amazing. Could you give me some examples? I've got a friend having a c-sect next Wednesday and I'm racking my brains about a going home with baby gift, currently without success. This might fill the void?

Sorry for not getting back to you earlier hun, I only just saw this.

Some examples of what it had.....

baby panadol; baby toothbrushes; saline drops; nipple shields; nappy rash cream; moisteriser; baby balsam; syringes for giving medicine; house proofing stuff; baby soap, hair wash, lotion; thermom; cocoa butter; etc etc etc!

There was soooo much, it was amazing.
Everything about you is so little -
your tiny toes, your button nose, your teensy fingers
and your pint-sized giggles.
And yet, you are the biggest miracle of my life
