Hi Girls,
I'm a slowcooker convert and love mine!! I love corned meat/silversides and found they are soooo tender when been cooked in the slowcooker.

It's very simple!
Decent sized piece of corned meat - I'd say probably 1-1.5kgs
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white vinegar
Cover in water

That's it.... Very simple and very tasty!

I soak mine over night in fresh water first, then pop in the slow cooker with new fresh water, a coule of bay leaves and cloves. Chop up carrots and potatoes and pop them in as well. I serve up with the potato and carrot mashed up and steamed greens. MMMM.

I've been doing pickled pork lately and we LOVE it.

I've never tried soaking mine. There are always so many ways to cook things!

I also add a 2-4 of peeled brown onions, and about a teaspoon of black peppercorns with the brown sugar, vinegar, cloves and bayleaves.

I always make a white sauce to serve with corned meat, add a bit of cheese or mustard powder, and we have it with garlic mash, steamed broccoli and cauli and carrots cooked with the meat.

I usually eat all the fat of the top of the meat while I'm slicing it before it manages to make it to the plate.........SOOO DELICIOUS!!!!! We might have to have it tomorrow biggrin.gif

Oh and I have seen a few recipes where you cover the meat with ginger beer instead of water etc. I tired it once nad it was such a waste of good ginger beer. the meat just tasted sickly sweet. Might try just putting ginger in the water next time....

It removes some of the saltyness.

I have a corned meat that is in its little bag thingy for cooking in. Should I pop it in the slowcooker and cover with water as you would when you cook it in a pot?
