we got a buddy harness from Target for H. hers is a little monkey biggrin.gif

the backpack part is quite small, so we don't really use it.
it's a double clip around her front, and the tail becomes the tether to me/C.
the tether part isn't long enough for her to get out of site, and I always reel her back in before she gets more than a few feet from me.

it really has been a lifesaver when shopping - I love it!

We've also got the monkey, although Rosie used to insist on holding the tail herself, which defeated the purpose somewhat laugh.gif It was useful when I was pushing the pram with Eddie in and could put the loop around my wrist. R was never a bolter but I have a feeling we'll be needing it once Eddie decides he wants to get out of the pram tongue.gif

My friend just bought a little backpack one for her daughter (don't know which one sorry!) and she swears by it! Her daughter is 19mths and just getting her running feet into action with more confidence (she was a late walker).

As the others have said, my friend has already commented that she doesn't get anything more done, as her daughter will tug at the end of the 'line', but at least she can't run off or get lost if my friend turns her head for a few seconds. Peace of mind is a wonderful thing!

And I have to say, I much prefer the look of the backpack, harness ones to the wrist strap ones - they look too much like a criminal being shackled to a guard! ph34r.gif The backpack ones are at least cute. wub.gif

We were out with Will today and he had his little money backpack on - we got so many (positive) comments and he was perfectly happy being able to have a bit more freedom. biggrin.gif

we use the monkey backpack alot these days - especially if i'm out with Jasper on my own since I can't carry him for too long, and i leave the pram in the car because he'd be going into a shopping trolley as soon as we get into the supermarket

love it! we do get stares - but mostly positive. we really want Jasper to learn how to walk and follow, so this is necessary 'just in case' for everyone's safety and peace of mind

we bought ours from toys'r'us on sale - i think it was about $20 instead of $30

We have the monkey one from Toys R Us, too. We only bought it a couple of weeks ago, it was $29.99 on sale (normally $34.99). So far Felix has only "practised" wearing it around the house, but he's taken to it really well and a few times he has even pointed to it, wanting to wear it. laugh.gif Before having a child myself I was never a fan of any type of kiddy leash/harness, but I actually think it looks quite cute and I can tell already that it'll be worth it's money many times over.

I saw a little boy at the shops with a similar moneky backpack leash on today and it didn't look strange at all, it looked cute and the boy didn't seem bothered by it at all.

We went and got Odin a little lion backpack / harness.
We call it "Ryan the Lion" wink.gif

He didn't like it at first but has kinda gotten over it and wears it without a worry. Good thing too cause he's decided he's too good a walker to bother holding mummy's hand laugh.gif

It has the added benefit of making Poppy feel useful. He's got a thing about pushing Odin in the pram, the little guy was so over it. So mum put the harness on him today & gave dad the leash to hold and he was happy as larry laugh.gif

My insane SIL , has a kids harness attached to one of those retractable dog leashes ! Then my niece can be super close in busy areas and give a little more 'rope' in more open areas !

Haha! That's hilarious! My mum bought two koala harnesses before the girls were even born because she had these visions of Lib running one way and Amy running in the opposite direction. They will come in very handy.
