We think we have our Honeymoon Destinations sorted! We're visiting 8 countries!!!!!! OMG I am so excited.

We'll be going to:
Germany (Berlin & Munich)
Belgium (Brussles & Bruges)
France (Paris & Nice)
Spain (Barcelona & San Sebastian)
Italy (Rome, Venice & Florence)
Monaco
Greece (Athens, Mykonos and Santorini)
Thailand (Koh Samui)

Belgium and Monaco will be small day trips the rest will be 2 nights or more. We've got a 5 week timeframe. We can't officially book anything for another 2 months as it's too far away for airfare prices but we have a good estimate from our Flight Centre friend and we've come in way under budget thanks to some great deals she will be able to get and doing alot of rail travel through Europe and staying in some private rooms in Hostels in France, Germany and Italy.

Our Koh Samui resort is to die for! We have roughly locked in 5 nights there and it'll be our last stop before home so we want total luxury!

I was wondering if anyone has some Hostel or Low Budget Accommodation recommendations for France, Germany, Spain, Athens and Italy?

As well as giving me your experiences if you have been to any of these countries and also any parts of Europe that you loved and sights that were amazing!

Cheers
Sarah

FH has already been to alot of Europe as he spent 6 months straight travelling the year before he met me. But he stayed in alot of dodgy hostels on the cheap which isnt spectacular for a honeymoon! So i'm currently researching hostels that are clean and tidy with a private room or low-budget accommodation that is decent. If we did top end hotels for the whole trip it would just be unaffordable and this is our last big holiday for awhile as we are planning on trying for a child when we return so we want it to be spectacular.

I have always wanted to go to Europe --- I am SO excited!

Hi Sarah!

Wow your honeymoon sounds awesome! So jealous, can't wait to get over to Europe. I have never been but stayed in private rooms in hostels in New York last year and they are actually really nice, so don't worry about the "hostel" tag.

Also have you looked at the tr!p Advisor website (.com) it gives reviews from people have actually stayed in hostels and hotels and ranks them based on people opinions. I looked at this alot before i travel anywhere. Here is the link Trip advisor Also if you are looking for hostels in particular this one was helpful when i went to NY Hostel Bookers

Happy planning!

I can definitely recommend a hostel in Barcelona - it's called Itaca (www.itacahostel.com). We always stay in hostels and I think this is just about my favourite of all of them. If you book a double you stay in a sort of apartment a couple of blocks from the main hostel, and there are just a few doubles in there to share a bathroom and kitchen with, so it's very quiet and private. The room is really big and comfy. It's also in Barri Gotica - the Gothic Quarter - which is one of the most beautiful parts of Barcelona, old buildings and lots of little alleyways and you can walk most places from there. But in my experience hostels in Spain are generally very good anyway!

Hi Sarah - just popping in here like lisa!

Having been to Europe 4 times and doing a mix of hotels & tours i would say why dont you look at a website called Venere.com. They pretty much cover everywhere you want to go and they are brilliant. Used them for Rome & Sorrento (oh you should add the Amalfi Coast in, especially a day trip to Positano if you can seeing its your honeymoon, that place is to die for and my absolute favourite place in the whole world!).

Anywa I would not stay in a hostel in Italy for your honeymoon. Try and find cheap little hotels. Hostels in Italy are not great at the best of times let alone for Honeymoon. Italy is not cheap in any form whether it be a hostel or hotel, so you might be better off just doing a hotel there. Have a look at Venere and let me know how you go!

Yeah venere.com is good. I used them for research as well. I generally went with the best site in terms of price across a number of them. Don't forget if there's a hotel that you really like, see if they have their own website as well. Sometimes it's cheaper to book with the hotel directly.
