I am planning our wedding for March next year, but not sure I want to carry a bouquet. Is there any purpose to the brides bouquet? I have seen girls who carry parasols, does anyone have any othes ideas?? happy.gif

No, of course you don't have to have a bouquet.

Apart from a parasol, you could have a wrist corsage, a pomander, or carry a gorgeous clutch or wristlet.

I like the idea of a wrist corsage or pomander, cheers!

An alternative to a parasol or wrist corsage could be to carry a beaded clutch purse, satin clutch purse or a lace fan

I don't have a pic, but my grandmother carried a book with flowers in the middle.

Imagine an open book (i think it was a bible) and flowers streamed through the spine and spilled out a little. Wish i could find a picture for you! (Just tried google imaging but can't find anything good).

It's an old fashioned idea but it looked quite fancy!

yes that was a very traditional thing to hold - a bible with flowers spilling from the open book - often small flowers attached to ribbons which could have knots tied down them which they called love knots

My SIL had her bridesmaids carry a different letter each which spelt out LOVE (I can't remember what she carried)

My cousin had candle lanterns with a few sprigs of flowers entwined in it

I have see fans also. My girls will have a parasol and I am considering a small circle of flowers dropping from their wrists also.

I have seen some really nice bead bouquets. www.thebeadedbouquet.com.au

What a beautiful photo! The parasol looks great- a good choice!

I also like AliRo's idea with the lanterns... you could come up with your own symbolic idea along those lines if you wanted to. smile.gif
