Its perfectly reasonable, and in fact, I think a testment to someones commiment to their courses, to see an opportunity to educate and use it.

Neither Chrissy or Liz have abused BL - simply asked some questions and provided information. Maybe someone else reading this thread will than go on and NOT make the same mistake as BL - and maybe it will make a difference, somewhere.

The more information is made available to the public about desexing etc the better, and I applaud Chrissy and Liz for using this opportunity to inform the public of what does in fact happen when pet owners make these mistakes, and what can be done to prevent it.

And I have seen this same reaction to other threads about kittens and puppies.

BL - I hope that you find a loving home for your last kitten, they are beautiful babies.

I agree with you about informing of people of information that you know, but dont turn it into a debate. If you want to debate it, take it elsewhere.

And i never said they abused BL, they didnt. I said 'made to feel bad' and reading what was said, i felt that I was made to feel bad by having not worked in a shelter for 5 years and knowing everything there is to know about it. I was made to feel bad for stating my opinion.

It wasnt meant as a debate in the first place. THAT IS THE POINT.

Regardless of which side of the debate you are on, this was not the place for it. If you wanted to debate it, make a whole different thread. To me it just came across as rude (to any member, so dont pull the 'its BL' bs on me) that you took her thread and sidetracked it and then abused her for something she can not change, as it happended in the past.

She came in here to see if anyone wanted to home a kitten. Not to home a kitten and debate over what age her cat should have been desexed.

My bold - you did in fact say abuse.

I dont even think there is a debate to be had - everyone agrees that animals should be desexed. Some cold, hard facts about the consquences of not desexing have been pointed out - people may not like it, but thats the reality.

We all make mistakes - this is an opportunity for other people to learn from that mistake.

No-one has tried to make BL (or you) feel bad, simply that she realize the bigger picture and do the right thing now.

Im not sure as to why you are feeling bad - you dont think that this is the place for a debate (thats fine, your entitled to think that), others feel that this is the perfect opportunity to discuss an ongoing problem and to inform the public - you choose to keep defending your position and other choose to keep defending theirs. Its not a personal issue and no-one should be feeling bad

I don't think anyone abused anyone in this thread. Nor do I think anyone was trying to make people feel bad.

I do think people saw this thread as an opportunity to share their experiences and knowledge in the hope of educating others on a terribly sad, terribly real problem that Australia has with unwanted animals and how we can help to make this situation better.

Its ok... I have been made to feel bad that I did share this information and try to help with what I knew.
This will be the final time I ever say anything in here about animals.

I have never felt this bad about trying to inform and help others in my life and my tears show that I care to much and its not worth any of this shit.

my appology, i did say abused. I didnt realise i did, but there you go, i did say it.

Everyone interprets things differently. I interpreted it as though Liz and Chrissy were being emotive and belitteling my feelings towards the situation. You didnt. So be it. Same way that i didnt see it as a place for a debate, others did.

ETA: I didnt mean abused as in personal attacks, but made to feel bad because she hadnt had her cat disexed at the earliest age possible.

I think when it comes to issues such as these - its very sensitive and people can read things the wrong way. Emotions get involved etc....

But all in all - My kittens are going to loving homes and alot of valuable information has been shared.

I dont think april meant 'abuse' as in personal attacks and probably didnt mean to write it all.

Perhaps because this thread originally started as a 'is anyone interested in a kitten' thread and than information came flooding in - it may have been viewed as a debate.

Not a debate about desexing? ok, what about responsibility? Whether people see it or not there is a bigger picture.
Easy, isn't it, ooops I made a mistake, now let me just find them homes and palm them off...done!!!

EXACTLY!! No responsibility. I think as a responsible pet owner it is your RESPONSIBILITY to get the kittens desexed. Mistake or to create a bond between you and your cat, if you don't get your kittens and cat desexed then you will be perpetuating the cycle of unwanted animals being put down. It is quite simply not fair to the animals
BL- This is not just about you but about creating an understanding of responsible cat owner.

Liz please don't be silenced, animals need strong advocates.

Sounds like the mother is about 2 not 5 months and it was said she'd be desexed after her first litter? OR am I confused?

ETA - OK I am confused, but it has been proven now this is Lilly's second litter. First litter in April, not desexed after first litter. 2nd accidental pregnancy - could have been avoided.

Fist off so as not too get anyones nose outta place

* I am not a BYB - I have 2 female cats Mia - she is 4 years ad Lilly who is 1.5 years.
Mia is desexed and got desexed after her first litter of kittens. Lilly is not desexed and has just had her first litter of kittens.

THE REASON is - after mia had her babies we created the strongest bond ( i know this sounds weird) But seriously we did. Mia thinks she's human. Anyway, when we got lilly we decided that we would like for her to have kittens b4 we get her desexed, she has had her kittens so when she is ready she will get desexed. ALL OF THESE BABIES HAVE A HOME!
Okay thats out of the way - 5 healthy kittens were born on the 2nd of April absolutely perfect! Mother and kittens are doing well! The labour went for a while and I assisted my precious lilly through every second of it.

Photos up 2moz wub.gif

Well it would seem this is not so much a "simple, one off mistake" afterall

PLEASE get your cat desexed - do not have anymore kittens. YOU are contributing to the deaths of unwanted cats by allowing your cat to have kittens, its really that simple. From what I can work out we're now talking at least three litters of kittens.

Aprt from the fact the cat wasn't Bec's in the first place. And she was booked to be desexed, and turn out she was pregnant the whole time Bec had her.

I am almost speechless.

BronnyLee - you have been an irresponsible pet owner - I don't care how much you wanted to "bond" with your cat. Go and get your cat desexed ASAP and get the kittens done while you are at it. Stop contributing to an already out of control problem.

Walking away now before I say something I might regret.....
