Hi Ladies,

Just wondering if anyone would like to share their holiday experiences in Vanuatu? Where they stayed, who they flew with, which travel agent offered the best deals?

The accommodation all looks lovely in the brochures so just wondering if anyone would like to share their personal stories, pics would be great too smile.gif

Also we are thinking of going in June/July does anyone know what the weather is like then?

Hmmmm, l dont ask for much do l blush.gif

I LOVED vanuatu.... we are going back again for sure... probably many times... wub.gif

We were told April May was better to go than in March (when we went) as it had the cooler temps (warm during the day, balmy 20 degree nights)... but we still loved it in March. However for you - June July should also be wonderful...

Have a look at my long story HERE... I'm post #3. I included lots of piccies too.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions I may not have answered xx

WOW, sounds like you had a fantastic time! The pics are great. Thanks for your help, Everthing looks great. I have my heart set on Irirki Island in a waterfront bure but l think it may be out of our budget.

Who did you fly with?

Iririki Island was what I first had my heart set on too!! smile.gif

But pricing wasn't the only turn off for me... when I really looked at the accomodation there - I realised I was looking at a resort - much like what I would see on the gold coast or up the sunshine coast... I wanted a more authentic vanuatu experience - whch is why I chose to stay at Breakas & I'm so glad I did. When we go back - we will be back at Breakas for sure.
I did speak to many honeymooners whilst we were over there though & Iririki was the only other place that I heard only good things about. Just so I would know when we went back that where we stayed was the best for us.

We went via Air Vanuatu (Quantas)... we booked with flight centre on a creative holidays package.

I just booked our babymoon to Breakas today.. it's just so gorgeous and it is really well reviewed on the web too smile.gif

14 days of lazing about, swimming, snorkelling, eating yummy food, long walks on the beach and site seeing, and it cost just over $5k for the two of us including flights from Melbourne and a beachfront fare.. not too bad I reckon:)

Also there was free champagne (not that I will really be partaking), free Melanesian feast, continental breakfasts, free village tour, free reef walk, free tropical cocktail on arrival..

I can't wait!!! smile.gif

PM me if you want the detail of the Sydney based travel agent who is also a travel wholesaler.

We stayed at Breakas for our Honeymoon back in May last year. It was really wonderful.

The resort itself is very nice, beautiful pool and restaurant and bar, we stayed for 7 nights. We felt 7 nights there was enough and if we were staying longer we probably would of moved to a different resort.

The Staff are very helpful.

We had a garden fare bungalow, but they are all the same, just their locations differ, the beach ones are beautiful too, but not as private as the Garden ones, you can see in most of them if the shutters are open when you walk on the beach.

They are fairly similar to what you see on the website. The bathrooms are cool, but everything gets wet with the shower, but quiet an experience.

Rooms are cleaned daily, and they usually do them when you go out, and are done pretty quickly.

It is a decent drive into town, may be 10 minutes. My advice is to always get a bus and not Taxi's. Buses were 100 vatu when we were there to go into town or back out to the resort and come along outside the resort all the time. The taxi's will try to rip you off so be careful or agree on a price before you get in.

The buses are an experience, but I think it comes with the charm of vanuatu.

It rained for the first 3-4 days we were there, but was nice after that.

We took quiet a few trips into town (port villa) and checked out the shopping and markets and ate at restaurants/cafe's.

On most nights we ate at Breakas, as we were a little unsure of travelling into port villa at night. The food was exceptional and prices reflect Aussie prices (you are looking at $20-$35 a meal) per person. Breakfast was included daily and was selection of fruit and pastries, toast and cereals and coffee. We found that we ate lunch in town or on a tour or something most days as we thought Breakas was a little dear and pretty boring menu (like burgers pizza and things for lunch).

There are lots of really nice cafe's in port villa or you can go to other resorts restaurants.

We went on the Ferry to both Iririki Island and Erakor Island. Both were every nice to have a wander around. Iririki has a really nice restaurant near where you get off the ferry.

Erakor has a lot of history on the island with old churches and graves and is good to walk around.

We also went deep sea fishng (my hubby is mad keen on fishing), it was rough and we didnt catch anything and was to expensive in my opinion, but was good to see Vanuatu from the water and look around. That was organised through the resort with the owners son.

The one place I would highly recommend is: we went to Paradise Cove resort and restaurant. You get Breakas to ring them and they come and get you in a bus and take you to the restaurant for dinner. It was fabulous, the food was great and the view stunning.

We also did the feast night at Breakas, it was fun, the food wasnt very good, but the entertainment was good with traditional dancers and singing.

I could tell you more but I would be here all day. We couldnt do a Volcano tour because of the weather, but on most of them you need to stay out overnight at another resort, so that is important to take into consideration.

We had a wonderful time and am happy to answer any other questions about Breakas or Vanuatu.

Have a great time!!
