Both Sides Now - Joni Mitchell - used amazingly in the film Love Actually

One for my baby - Frank Sinatra/Robbie williams version - my grandad, who had a lovely voice (he got to sing with the Glen Miller band during the war!) sang this to me once when I was young and I loved it from the first moment he sang it! Its about a guy pouring his heart out to a barman whose name is Joe, which was also my grandad's name so it seemed extra special to me! He passed away nearly 8 years ago and it brings to me tears everytime I hear it - I'm even welling up writing this!

Someone to watch over me - Various artists - Cole Porter song

Lately - Stevie Wonder

Just thought of another:

A Case of You by Joni Mitchell. Though Tori Amos does a good version of it.

Wings - Mull of Kintyre

It played at my nanny's funeral five months ago, and if I ever hear it, it makes me think of her.

Also, whenever I hear The Last Post, I usually get tears in my eyes.

Now that it's nearing Christmas, the radio is playing another song that stirs up emotions for me.

'So this is Christmas (War is over)' by John Lennon - when this song comes on the radio, I turn it up loud and sing along with tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. For several reasons. It means that Christmas is here again, a whole year has passed by since last Christmas. Also, the singing of "War is over" --- I sang this song in Year 4 with my class (when the Gulf War was on); this song was released before I was even born. The children singing with John Lennon would have children of their own now --- and war still isn't over. I don't think it ever will be sleep.gif

easy one for me...

shania twain - man i feel like a woman (dad's favourite song)

bob carlisle - butterfly kisses - both from a daughter standpoint and a close friend had this playing at the funeral of her 30w stillborn baby girl lucy

jim croce - time in a bottle - at our wedding (my FIL played it for me when we were choosing songs and i just wept like a baby)

peter gabriel - red rain

U2 - walk on
the beatles - in my life
tea party - oceans

the last 3 were used in a video montage my cousin did of my dad when he passed away, i cannot hear these songs without being reduced to a sobbing mess on the floor.

A few of you have mentioned "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds... it always reminds me of rove and belinda and I cry every time I hear it!!

The other one that always gets me is Watch over me by Bernard Fanning.
