We had a idealistic honeymoon too. I find it a little weird that this girl believes everyone has a fight and told you to prepare for it! blink.gif

I agree! I have never heard that view before, it's really odd to me! I suppose if you usually have fights then the honeymoon may be no different as your personalities wouldn't change just because you're on holiday, however I would have thought if anything you would maybe fight a little less because you are so relaxed and loved up and little things wouldn't bother you as much.
We sometimes find ourselves aruging and getting worked up about silly things when we are under stress or if we are tired etc, however we decided that there was no way we wanted to fight on our honeymoon so we made a conscious effort to just let things go. We really needed a holiday by the time our honeymoon came around so we were determined to not let any of our relaxing time go to waste!

No fights for us either and we were away O/S for 6 weeks!! Everyone was telling us we would be coming back wanting a divorce rolleyes.gif wacko.gif

There was a few stressful times for my DH as I work for an airline and you are always on standby before you get your tickets and my got stressed at times whether we will get on the flight or not. Once we had our tickets in our hands he was fine...

I agree /\ /\ as above - we were on such a high from the wedding and enjoying our dream honeymoon that we just had a ball...

We didn't have a honeymoon immediately after our wedding but we we went on a few different trips in the months following that we call our 'honeymoons' - and we didn't fight on any of them! Mind you, we travel really well together, in our 9 week trip around Europe at the start of this year our only grumpy words were when we were trying to drive around England without a map tongue.gif

I don't know, some couples travel well together, some don't. My BIL and his girlfriend travel badly together but they adore each other and always come home in one piece! I don't think you can generalise it like your friend did at all.

Thanks guys. I think she was actually saying don't freak out if it does happen rather than it definitely will. FH and I have travelled together a few times and been fine - probably because he is easygoing and complements my "stresshead" personality. I think my friend was just suggesting that the build-up of emotions from the wedding might come out in a negative way. FH and I have agreed that we are both in dire need of a holiday (not because of the wedding - we just haven't had one in about 10 months) so I've laid off organising things for the honeymoon and decided to go with the flow a bit more. We are going to Margaret River and Pemberton so it should be very relaxing.

We had one really big fight, I cant remember exactly what about now, but was probably a silly disagreement blown out of proportion due to fatigue and me being incredibly irritable due to a rash all over my body from mossie bites and conjunctivitis. Just what I needed on my honeymoon. We got over it quick enough.

No - we didn't have any fights. I was actually sick on our honeymoon and thought for sure hubby was going to get cranky, but he was so loving and looked after me.

We had an arguement about what we were having for lunch one day laugh.gif I was tired and he wouldn't make up hismind so I got the shits and went back to the resort with the shits, thinking I had the keys like I had all the rest of the trip when I got back I realised I didn't have them so sat on the balcony looking at the ocean in the hammock till hubby got home with his lunch. So it was over something trivial and when he let me in he had a laugh at me and asked if I was over my hissy fit and it was all over. He gave me some of his lunch too biggrin.gif .

I think we had a few little arguments on our honeymoon.. but I reckon we did quite well as we ended up with a few days stuck indoors in our 'tropical paradise' together.. we were in Hoi An in Vietnam, and there was a typhoon a bit further up the coast which resulted in days on end of rain and severe flooding..

we were somewhat marooned on high ground in our beautiful beachfront suite, with no where to go and nothing to do whilst the tempest raged outside..

I think it tested our patience a bit.. but something to laugh over in retrospect...

We had our honeymoon 10 months after our wedding and went to Europe.

The only disagreement we had was when I got us hopelessly lost, and was too stubborn to admit it and got grumpy. Apart from that minor incident, everything else was perfect, considering we were travelling around for 3 months.
