A good friend of mine is getting married next weekend and has called on me to organise their honeymoon! They had planned on going to Thailand (was booked) but she has been really unwell (in hospital) and they have decided to stay in Australia and go to Queensland.

Criteria she has given me:
- $2000 to spend on accomodations for 5 nights
- Needs to be in Queensland
- They don't mind staying at a big/small resort/place but want to stay at the best for their money

Can anyone help with suggestions? I'm thinking Port Douglas? Thala Beach Lodge/Sea Temple?

Or Couran Cove Island Resort on Stradbroke Island?

Please help! laugh.gif

Day dream Island or Brampton Island. Or for something completely different The Mouses House.

We had our honeymoon on Brampton Island and it was fantastic - kids are restricted, the snorkelling is great, the vibe is laid back not pretentious and all meals are included - except alcohol.

I would highly recommend it, and also getting the plane or helicopter to the island not the boat across as it is meant to be very rough and causes a lot of sea sickness.

Hopefully you can book them a great deal.

Oh and the top level of accomodation is actually in a noisier location then the second top level of accomodation - so booking that for them may help them save a little bit of $$

Thanks for the replies so far, my friend has just told me that they need to stay somewhere close to a hospital, so it looks like any islands are out of the questions unfortunately sad.gif. Any other suggestions?

We stayed at great places in Port Douglas and Palm Cove, I'll check if they are close to hospitals and PM you the details if you like smile.gif

Thanks MrsShoeLady, I thought of Port Douglas straight away too but it's too far from a hospital (an hr), Palm Cove is probably too far too, half an hour. I guess that only leaves Cairns? This is so hard, planning a honeymoon for someone else! smile.gif
