With only 7 weeks to go to our wedding H2B are busy with preparations and get little help from my family and Zero help from his. But this is okay - that we can handle BUT yesterday we visted the MIL to celebrate Fathers day and she started carrying on about my kitchen tea which is coming up this weekend. She said she will be tired, she will get a headache, she is so busy - too busy infact to write up a recipe (which i've asked for in liew of gifts). It's not like i've asked her to help with preparations or anything. Argghhh... we both work full time, manage our household chores and are preparing for the wedding yet we don't get a word in edge wise to even talk about wedding preparations because she is too busy complaining about house work, headaches and how much she has to do. She doesn't even work!

Arrghhh... i'm sorry for this rant but H2B is tired of me carrying on so I just had to get these feelings out. I had to get out of her place yesterday because her negativity was really getting me down.

Anybody else have similar experiences or any words of wisdom to help calm me down? The way i'm going I won't be able to see her before the wedding incase I come out with some smarta#$e remark... mad.gif

Take deep breaths hon and realise that she is a drama queen. Some people are just like that and as soon as you realise it, the better. Then you can have a giggle at her stupid "woe is me" moments cause honestly - she just likes to whinge.

smooch really has summed it up... and also summed up my MIL in the process!

Always too tired, too busy etc etc. My MIL isn't coming to my baby shower this sunday (lunch) because she starts her new job on Monday.

Also, she only sees her 5 year old son (who she decided should live with his gambling addict father!) during the holidays, because if she had him during the school term, she and her new partner would never get time to themselves.

HELLO! WHY HAVE KIDS IN THE FIRST PLACE THEN YOU SELFISH WOMAN!!!!!!!!!

On top of this, My OH and I are now expected to have the 5 year old on the occasional weekend so that his father gets a break.

MIL's... I swear! can't live with them, can't shoot them.

Oh Emma - I feel your pain. And I agree - why have children if you can't follow through?

Gina- apart from the headache issue i had exactly the same conversation right down to the recipe part with my future MIL on fathers day too ... which is sort of spooky!
Sometimes you wish you never invited them ... If you ever want a chat feel free to PM me it appears we have similar issues!

omg this could be my in laws biggrin.gif especially my sil - who does not work, her children are 18 and 20, and does not do anything except look after the house. She had the hide to complain about how busy she is - whilst i was pregnant, working 45-50 hours a week, studying, doing volunteer work, dh working 60 hrs a week and the both of us sharing domestic duties.

I think some of the other ladies have summed it up well, personally I always think of kath & kim " busy 24/7" and this gives me humour to listen to the woes of being busy laugh.gif
I thought I knew you so well,
After all I have seen inside your hands and feet, your brain and your heart,
Yet everyday you amaze me...
