I'm having my Mum too. I haven't spoken to my father for about 14 years so he won't even know about the wedding let alone be part of the day.

Though I don't know if I'll do the "give away" part as Mum has always said that I'm so independent that I've never really been hers to give away.

i had my dad which I was very thankful for as a few years before we married my dad got septicemia from a ruptured kidney & we almost lost him...
& then we included our mums by having them sign our registry
my brother & my hubby's sisters were in the bridal party - not for being nice - but because we really are all such good friends...

I walked down by myself.

My Dad left us 5 years earlier so I didnt want him to walk me, although he was at the wedding.

I considered my Mum, but I thought what the hell and did it myself.

I always thought it was just me (well it is out of my friends). It's good to know (kind of) that I'm not the only one.

My bestie is really close with her dad and when they danced at her wedding I got really upset. I was very jealous of her then. BUT I have my Mum and she is the bestest in the world. wub.gif

At least we are in good company.

My Dad died 18 months ago sad.gif

I think I will walk myself down the aisle. Although my brother probably expects to do it, and everyone expects me to have someone walk me down because I couldn't possibly do it on my own mad.gif Even FH wants me to have someone.

It just makes me mad that everyone wants me to replace my Dad. It might make them feel more comfortable but why don't they care how I feel about it?

At my first wedding my dad 'gave me away' (oh how i dislike that saying!), but this time, DH and i arrived together with my children.

For us it was about taking this step together, as a family unit. Even though my kids dad was at our wedding, we wanted them to feel included......and they were uber excited about arriving in a stretch limo laugh.gif

Dan... I think you should walk by yourself. Your dad will be by your side regardless. Hold his hand. You'll know he is holding you too.

My mum and my dad walked me.

My dad.

I did ask my mum too - my parents are still married and we are all very close - but she saw that as "raining on dad's parade". They are quite traditional in some respects.

It was really lovely.

I walked myself down the "aisle". Well it wasn't really one as we got married in a registry office but both our parents were waiting at the end and when the celebrant asked who gives these people away both sets of parents said "we do". I thought it was cute wub.gif

H2B and I will be walking down the aisle together (or me dragging him, LOL wink.gif ).

I will have no family of mine at the wedding.

We will meet just outside the Chaple and have that "Moment" together just before it all happens. wub.gif

The more i think about us doing this, the more it just makes sense.
