Dont mean to be rude but I think Nikki asked about her MIL not about her spelling and grammar. Im sure she has already been to school and doesnt need others telling her how to write etc. If anyone had bothered to read the post correctly they would notice she was typing in slang, thus more then likely how she speaks!

Anyway onto your MIL. Just ignore her. Otherwise it will make things a lot more akward between you both! If you havea major problem with what she is doing dont get involved get you man to speak to her. Thats his job not urs!

I have to say I agree with the majority of the ladies here. How can we help her if it takes so long to figure out what she's trying to say?

There's not a lot that sh*ts me more than txtspk. The sheer laziness is insulting and disrespectful, which should really be avoided when you're asking for help, hmm?

As for the question though - if you've got the means, do your invitations, etc on your own computer. If you're using her computer more for the design programs installed do your designs there by all means, do your wording on your own computer and put it into your invites in the last stage. Then she's got less opportunity to mess with them.

am i the only one seeing that the OP was saying her MIL wanted to change the wording on her invites? To me, the way she wrote her post on here concerns me, as she may have written her invites like it to.

SO yes, although its harsh, maybe her MIL was trying to help in a good way. I passed no judgement on her, i dont know her, i dont really give a flying duck if she takes my advice or not.

as for those saying i was harsh and judgemental, arent you being harsh and judgemental of me and others who agreed with me?

Last night she had the nerve to say after weddin r u goin to start goin to the gym to tone up u will have the money then as ur not payin for weddin..

Frankly I don't really care about the invitations. I am more concerned about the MIL suggesting Nikki needs to tone up. I would be fuming! She should just mind her own business mad.gif

No wonder Nikki is hiding - I wouldn't be brave enough to come back:-)

Seriously, do you realise that you guys have spent 22 posts arguing about Nikki's grammar? Tell you what, being a teacher I mark kids on grammar, punctuation, parts of a sentence (verbs, prepositions etc...) so maybe I'll start correcting other's mistakes and post them up (although someone has to do mine, I can't type to save myself!!)

No offense to anyone in partic., but get over it!!

Hi Nikki,

Your situation with your MIL sounds very frustrating. If you can manage to grin and bear it (and then just ignore it later) that is probably the most harmonious way, I used to defend myself at every turn/slight from in-laws but it never got me anywhere smile.gif if you FH supports you that is all that counts.

With the invites, if you don't like her changes just tell her that you appreciate her help but prefer the original wording, she'll get the idea after a while if you thank her for her ideas but don't implement them.

Good luck!!

Hey Nikki-
I think MIL's and control go hand in hand.
My MIL constructed a guest list, budget, researched venues, dresses and flowers and even had the bridal party figured within 24 hours of the engagement. Needless to say we thanked her for her help, but told her that in future we would ask for her assistance if we were having trouble (in the nicest possible way). And two days ago she acted surprised that the wedding was exactly a year a way- even though she was quiet helpful, and instrumental in choosing the date!
They are a strange breed MIL's.... dry.gif
Just have a talk to her and thank her for everything things she has done, but tell her that you are capable of handling it tongue.gif
