Noah is beginning to not want 2 sleeps a day....So I am just trying to swing a new routine but I have major bubba brain and can't work out what to do wacko.gif At the moment I am just following his cues - but I am big one for routine....so how does your day go with one day sleep including meal times and bottles smile.gif

I am thinking of:

7-8am - Wake up/brekkie
10ish - Bottle
11.30ish - Lunch
1pm - Bottle and bed
5pm dinner
6ish - bottle and bed

He has done this for a couple of days...but I would really like to push bedtime out to 7pm so we can spend some time as a family IYKWIM

TIA

I wasn't quite prepared for Indi to drop down to one sleep so early on. She's been doing this now since she was 10 months blink.gif

Our routine is:

7.00am - wake & bottle
8.30am - brekkie (won't touch food before this time)
10:30am - nap
12.00pm - wake
12:30pm - bottle
1:30pm - lunch
6:00pm - dinner (we try to have family meals at the table)
7:00pm - bath
7:30pm - bottle & bed

I take her cues for sleeping only but stick to a routine for feeding & bath time.

When she decided she didn't want an arvo nap she fought & fought me (ie screamed blue murder) so I gave up. If she is really grumpy in the arvo & obviously needs a bit of a nap I either take a trip out in the car or a walk in the pram. I usually find even if she just has a 10 - 20 min catnap she's fine for the rest of the afternoon.

Some days, however, she shows no signs of being tired in the afternoon & will be a happy little vegemite until I put her to bed (like tonight rolleyes.gif)

I should also add that Indi is not yet mobile (no crawling or walking - yes she's a lazy bum) so I kinda think that because she's not so active she doesn't tire herself out as much as a more active bub & therefore requires less sleep during the day .... maybe ..... huh.gif

Im not much help, but sometimes Keira has 1 sleep sometimes she has 2. All depends on how long her morning sleep lasts.

She goes to sleep at 10am and sleeps till about 12pm but somedays sleeps till 1.30pm. If she sleeps till 12pm, she will usually have an arvo nap around 3/4pm, if she sleeps till 1.30pm (which happens about 2-3 times a week) she skips the arvo nap, but still goes to bed at about 7.30/8pm either way.

Not sure if I should be waking her if she sleeps past 12pm, so she has the 2nd sleep huh.gif

Told you I wasnt much help tongue.gif

Hi,

We made it to 16 1/2 months before going from 2 naps to 1. The reason for that I think is that he was (and still is but not as bad LOL) an early riser and he is super active and busy. Now we have the bliss of a 6am start to the day whereas before it was between 4.50am & 5.15am every day ph34r.gif . I am SO envious of the 7am risers I can't even imagine the luxury of a 7am start every day laugh.gif

Our routine is:

6.00am Wake Up
6.15am Yoghurt (he doesn't drink cows milk)
8.00am Cereal
10.00am Morning Tea
11.45am Lunch
12.40pm Stories
1.00pm Nap
3.10pm Wake from Nap
3.45pm Afternoon tea
5.00pm Dinner
6.10pm Bath
6.40pm Stories
7.00pm Sleep

Mandy the routine/times you are working on for Noah are pretty much the same as ours. I remember when making the transition from 2 to 1 nap that an earlier bed time was the norm but after a month or so I am sure you'll be able to move bedtime to 7pm instead of 6. It just takes a few weeks for them to adjust. Their tummies need to adjust too so that they get used to food or bottles at the new time. Once Noah settles into the 1 nap mode you could move the bedtime by 10 mins later every few days and if he is good with that then you'll get to the 7pm no probs.

Good luck with it all.

cheers
Dee smile.gif

Thanks so much gals biggrin.gif

Dee - Ahhhhhhhhh - so that is why he is wanting to go to bed at 6pm....Okay well I will let him adjust and get this going and then adjust his bedtime.....I didn't even think of that - but that makes perfect sense smile.gif

Phew - So I still have a brain afterall - Seriously it was starting to do my head in and I want to sort of get a 'routine' happening before this new bubs comes along and I just went into panic mode laugh.gif

And then he is cracking it from about 4ish onwards...just trying to work out the happy medium - I am not sure what is worse - the cracking from 4pm onwards or fighting to get him to sleep rolleyes.gif

I know lovely!!

Just as everything is well and truly sorted and you think your all the same page, they change bless em!

I am truly thankful for her overnight sleeping through, but even that the last week has required lots cuddles, rocking and even the odd feed to sleep which she hasnt done for over 6 months! Not complaining though as I know she wont always want me to cuddle her to sleep wub.gif

Heres to cracking the code lol laugh.gif

How did everyone go about cutting down to 1 sleep? I am thinking it is time soon for me to cut down to 1 sleep now as Oliver is going to bed later and later and waking earlier and earlier. However, if he wakes before 6am, I don't think I could get him through the day on just one sleep.

I have more questions but can't think of them all now.

We have started the 1 day sleep most days of late.. (apart from today as we are going out at 11 and we are going to the park for a birthday party.. so she will need a nap before hand)

Caitlin wakes anywhere from 6 - 7am mainly between 6 and 6.30..

6-7 WAKE
BOTTLE
7.30 Breakfast
9.30 Morning Tea
11- 1130 Lunch
11.30 - 12 NAP for 1.5 - 3 hrs depending on the day
3 pm or on wake up Arvie Tea
5-530 Dinner
6pm BATH
7PM BED

This is about a normal day.. She is kinda in between needing two day sleeps or one.. but most days if i put her down in the morning she WONT sleep in the arvie.. just plays in her cot.. (which to me is a bit of a rest i guess)

We've been blessed with a boy who has had 2 sleeps until quite recently but now we're going through the whole transition down to 1 sleep (if that it seems wacko.gif)

When we put him down for a day nap now he screams blue murder unsure.gif If you didn't know better you'd think someone was poking him with hot irons - it's such a carry on!! It's just strange cause he looks & acts like he's tired but you put him down and it's all over.

Mandy, did it take you long to get into the swing of just 1 nap?

It's so hard to know what to do sometimes!
