Forgot to add .. Iririki has a 2 for 1 pass which is really good value for money. 2 for 1 meals at nice restaurants, to tours to the waterfall, etc. Loved it, though you can tell, can't ya?! tongue.gif

FYI

March is cyclone season in Vanuatu. We were going to go there for our honeymoon, but decided against it.

We went in mid Feb .. it was supposed to be monsoon season but it only rained one day out of 7 .. the rest of the time, it is blue skies. I guess it's up to you as to whether you are prepared to take the risk ...

We were there in Oct no worries with weather only rained one day also !! Still the humidity is a killer round 90% but you get use to it after a day or so.

We met so many honeymooners there .. lots of Aussies so we all hooked up for dinner on some nights which is lovely. I checked out the Harbour Room (I was staying in the overwater room) - I must say there is very little difference in the 2 rooms.

Miss Polly - for what it's worth - I can't say the overwater bungalow was worth the difference. I mean - it was very nice to see the water reflect the sunlight into the room and the sound of the waves crashing around .. but the Harbour Room is just as nice. Plus the Harbour Room has a 4 poster bed, which the overwater one doesn't. It's just a thought ... spend the money you save on food, maybe? That's what I would do! tongue.gif

There is also a nice place around there (bit further, about 40 mins by car) - called Tamanu Beach Club. It has nice white sandy beaches .. and the restaurant is apparently divine (it was closed when I was there, but I went to the beach) .. but do beware the waves, the current is very strong!

I was wondering about that.. the brochure pics of the rooms only has a pic of the 4 poster... and it says harbour view room... i cant seem to see any pics of the waterfront room.. does that have air con? FH wants to stay in waterfront because its kind of replacing the "tahiti honeymoon" that we couldnt afford.. he he..
i actually dont mind...
what was the room like in the waterfront room? which room is bigger?

I belive the are both the same size Miss Polly We had the 4 poster bed was nice and they have been refurbished over the last few years.

We could still see full water from our room as it our pics not sure if you heard of it Princess C but waterfront rooms can smell a bit from the coral ??? We could smell it from our room but was no big deal at all.

Guess if you want full waterfront go for it sweety !!

We also met lots of honeymooners there and everyone is so friendly and happy hour was also a good bit of fun !!

I didn't smell anything, actually and I sat outside the room on the balcony a lot. Maybe it depends on the time of year. That's about the only special thing about the overwater bungalows - it sits over the water so the sound of it as you sleep at night is rather soothing .. plus the sunlight lapping the water in the morning and the reflection into the room was quite pretty. The room is air conditioned, as Prinny said - thank God for that!

The room isn't any bigger than the harbour room. Miss Polly - your H2B would be disappointed if he thinks it replaces the overwater bungalows in Tahiti. It does not even come close .. sorry to burst his bubble! It only sits over the water a little bit, half the bungalow sits over the water .. so it is very close to shore. It's not the ones you see in Tahiti along the long walkway!

But it is up to you .. if it were me doing it again, I would save the money - take a side trip to Tanna .. the volcanos rock!! Except maybe next time, I will go to Pentecost or Santos instead, given I've already been to Tanna laugh.gif

Yes they are not right over the water are they laugh.gif Sorta on the side a bit !!

Definately for us to next time will be saving the money for a volcano trip - guess its once of those places where you wont see it all on one visit unless your loaded or saved up for like 8 years !!

Good excuss to go back thou !!

our original wish was to go to tahiti on the over water bunglows etc...
but we know that is NOT financially possible with our budget...
so then we decided to go to cook islands stay in there suites.. when what we really wanted was a bunglow to ourselves.. with some sort of water aspect...
with out paying the big price tag.. so when i saw this resort i thought .. perfect..
in our budget... our own bunglow... as close as possible to the water...
we know its no tahiti... but its as close as we can get!
and from what you girls have been telling me... its gorgeous...
thats the reason we are considering it...
unless by some miricle we come across a nice wod of cash and can go to
tahiti.... we will be more than happy at vanuatu for now.. hi hi
