It's finally over!

After 7 years I've left it all behind. I am happy, sad, scared, confused, anxious - every emotion I have had in the last few weeks.

My ex was an abusive, violent, schizophrenic, drug addicted, alcoholic cheater.

It took 6 months to plan, save and prepare for this. The kids and I left on December 28 2007. I have moved 1000 kms away to my home town where I grew up. The kids are missing their Dad yet they like it out here. The grass is green (literally), the kids can play in the yard, I have been baking again. Things that we haven't done for such a along time. The air smells so fresh!

The last few weeks have been difficult yet I hope they will get better. My daughter starts Prep in 3 weeks and my son had his first day at childcare today so they will soon make friends. We start swimming lessons on the weekend and my daughter has asked to do dancing again.

To those on here that have sent me PM's in the past I just wanted to let you know that we are out. So far so good.

The children are still having phone contact with their Dad and it will be going to Family Court when I get the paperwork in order. I am hoping that it will stay fairly reasonable and that he won't ask for more than supervised visitation at school holidays.

Kell - Thanks especially. Your PM's left me thinking for a long time after you sent them and helped me get a plan devised to get out.

Thanks
Sherri

P.S. I am a bit lonely at the moment if anyone wants to be my friend...

Well done, I admire your courage in taking this huge step for you and your children. Not sure where you are so may not be able to be a friend IRL but happy to be there in the virtual one smile.gif

Thanks everyone.

I am in S.W. Qld about 12 hours west of Brisbane so it has been a huge move.

I don't have msn or facebook yet. I am going to set one up soon though.

The kids are in bed early for a change so I am going to unwind tonight.

Sounds like a good plan.

Maybe post in GCC asking if any girls are from your area and you could meet up and let us know when you join facebook or msn..

Congratulations on making such a positive change in your life!!

It will not always be easy, but the hard times soon fizzle out and the good times will far outweigh!!
You will soon wonder how you live like that for so long smile.gif

I did similar almost 6 yrs ago... and it was the best thing I ever did for the children and myself.

I'm here if you need a friend also! All the very very best!!!
