Yesterday was my last day of work till next Thursday and I was so happy driving home having 6 days off ahead of me. I got home and fed Milo but he didn't come to me straight away like he usually does. So I called out to him, no response, then I walked to the back of the house to check the sideway and screamed my lungs out. My poor baby
Milo had hung himself on our sidway fence - he was obviously so petrified by the thunder and lightning here in Melbourne yesterday that he tried to jump the fence and his collar got stuck. I thought maybe he was still alive but I touched him and released he wasn't. I was bawling my eyes out and called H straight away. He told me not to look at it and to go inside and wait for him to get home, so I gave him a kiss, said my goodbyes and waited. Milo is a big dog, he weighs at least 80kgs so it was really heartbreaking to have to cut him down from the fence and watch his lifeless body fall - I just can't stop picturing him hanging there, I really wish I wasn't the one who found him there sad.gif

He was too big to bury so we decided to leave him at the vet. I still can't believe it's happened and I can't stop blaming myself - I knew there were going to be storms and that he gets scared - why didn't I leave the garage door open for him or make sure that the sideway gate was open ?!? So many thoughts are running through my mind - also did he suffer for long? My poor Milo, I hope it wasn't too painful for him.

Milo was our first pet as our own family since we got married - he was ours and even though I've grown up with pets who have died Milo's death has made such a huge impact on me - I never thought I could be so devastated. We've had him for 2 and a alf years which isn't long but it seems like a lifetime to us ... he was part of the family and it will never be the same without him - he was the best dog, such a gentle giant sad.gif I cried non-stop for over 5hrs yesterday. I'm just distraught, and I'm sure the pregnancy hormones aren't helping either.

All our the neighbourhood kids love our Milo, they are always knocking on the door and asking him to play. I'm dreading telling all of them - what do I tell them? I might just tell their parents and let them deal with it.

Poor H was equally devastated, he was given Milo for his birthday from a friend. H also had another dog die the same way in Croatia when he was younger so he's just feeling very bad at the moment - like 'why do my pets keep doing this ?!?' - poor thing, I feel so sorry for him. We've had such a rough year but thank god for the miracle in my tummy - it's keeping the smile on our faces smile.gif

Speaking of bubs - something good came out of a bad situation ... I think I felt my first kick late last night and my tummy actually moved, it was like a wave, a ripple on the right side of my tummy - H was lying next to me and saw it! It was almost like bubs was reassuring us that everything was going to be ok ... H was really worried cause I'd had such a shock finding Milo that something might of happened to bubs. But I'm happy we felt and saw the kick and also that I was hugging the toilet bowl this morning, lol - I never thought I'd say that!

RIP our beautiful boy Milo - we love you and hope you're enjoying doggie heaven wub.gif
