I'm weird, I go through phases as to where I do my grocery shopping. But I do get things at ALDI.
We often buy our meat in bulk there then divide it up at home.

Earlier in the year I catered L's entire birthday party by shopping at ALDI. Party pies, sausage rolls, little franks, chips, dips, cheese, soft drinks.... all bought at ALDI. People raved about the party pies - I love them!

I think I'm going to have to take a trip down there tomorrow before I go to Safeway/Coles.

well, i must have a really basic aldi, there was no gnochi, no other fancy stuff (mayo!) that i could find and it was just too messy.

i did buy a few things though:

all bran
bread and fancy bread - really nice!
dandy rolleyes.gif ultra paper towels, really cheap!
toilet paper - really cheap
cheese

thats about it.

I love Aldi too! I love their chocolate! mmmm...

don't like some of their meats (just doesn't taste right?)

but most other products are just fab!

Hubby doesn't like going there though. He said its like war time rationing, and all we are missing are the food stamps! laugh.gif laugh.gif

After reading this thread I wish I had an ALDI near me! I don't think they exist in WA, do they? I have recently discovered IGA though, not really a discount supermarket but it is cheaper then Coles/Woolies and the fruit and veg are fantastic.

Brother in-law is a manager at one of them (think I've mentioned this in another Aldi thread?) and after further discussion:

* the baby food is by Heinz but where it costs about 98 cents at a supermarket, it's about 50 cents at Aldi.

* The tvs are rebranded and are actually made by LG but are at a fraction of the cost

Hope that helps some wink.gif

i love aldis! we live in a golden triangle and are surrounded by 3 of them!

i love their 'nutella' - it tastes exactly like the real one.
their ravioli and tortellini are pretty good, not quite at latina standard, but not far off.
toilet paper, paper towels, serviettes are great! so cheap!
i have found the 'milfina' (i think thats what its called) vanilla icecream to be very nice and creamy.
frozen peas are very good.
pretty much everything we have tried has been great.

the only dud so far has been the 'organics' salsa - it was horrible - one chip dipped and i threw the rest out! oh yes, we avoid the meat section too, not a fan of that either. we buy all our meat bulk from a wholesale butcher.

Their nappies are re-branded huggies, just slightly bigger in size.

We love their power tablets for the dishwasher, their spaghetti sauce and pastas, most of their cleaning products, milk, cheese, bacon and frozen chips.

can i ask about the nappies----

we were given some when Sam was born- they were the small(est) size ones from Aldi.

Are the sizes above different? People keep telling me that they're rebranded huggies- but the small ones were so unlike the huggies we've got. Am just wondering if the smalls are different somehow?

Sam is ready for the next size up so I'd like to know before I buy some- thanks!
