It would seem I have started a revolution in my family with going to Aldi. I have been going for about 2 years now, and everyone in my family has followed suit, but it seems some of my friends are a little anxious as they think it is inferior..

So, for all those girls looking to save a buck that may have been concerned about Aldi before, I thought we would make a list of the do's and dont's.

My definite do's are:

Palazzo Chocolate Biscuits
Hillcrest Chocolate Fudge Muffin Bars
Brookfield yoghurts (the full fat, i find the low fat a little watery)
The bread is fantastic and at 99c a loaf!
Milk is also exactly the same, same with eggs.
Prepacked Gnocchi, and also Ravioli.
The greek fetta is beautiful.
I also use and love their milk and honey hand soap
And their nappy wash is just as good as Napisan.
Diplomat English Tea
Alcafe Gold is just like Moconna.

I dont think I have really had an issue with anything apart from the flavoured tunas, they were a bit pasty, but it looks like they have changed now, but I havent tried the new ones.

My dont's.
I dont have any at this stage!!!

so come on girls, come and add, and you might even be able to tell me somethings I havent tried!!

Love their hommous and other dips
Muffin bars
Pringle stlye chips
Soft drinks
Lavender washing conditioner
Washign oweder is OK
Bottled water YUM
Chicken Nuggets YUMBO
Party pies excellent
I love love love their froizen veg, esp their asian stir fry variety.
Olive Oil
Bread (I get the fancy style ones soy linseed etc, but still heaps cheaper than helgas etc and just as nice)

NO
Any of their stir through/simmer sauces. I find them to be really salty.
Not a fan of their mince. It just tasted odd to me.
Not a fan of their nappies. I know others rave, but not me.
Nor their wipes... pain in the butt to get out of their container. Not very handy...

I get everything there now i dint used to get meat but now i do the only thing I go to Coles for is deoderant.

A full trolley of the same stuff i would get from coles or safeway can be $50-$80 cheaper it is unbelievable. Now on one wage with bubs we can get those added luxuarys we might not have been able to otherwise.

I like their canned tomatoes, toilet paper, little packets of mints and the rice

I didnt like their stir through sauces or frozen stirfry veg (some of the vegies are just tiny grated pieces)

I havent tried much stuff yet though!

Ooh really? I LOVE them! The nappies are just great but the wipes - they are so wet and strong, it's so easy to get baby clean!

Just to add further, we got their Honey Ham 97% fat free last night and their real cheese slices (not the plasticy ones, even though I love those too) to make lunches with and it is absolutely yummo.

And husband said that their juice boxes are nice too!

(haaha, I sent him off to work with Poppers.. he would look like a 5 year old turning up with his ham sammy, a popper and a museli bar. biggrin.gif)

Aldi is down the road from us and I think it gets better all time time! I love -

*mixed goumet lettuce pack
*danish fetta
*grated cheese
*fancy bread, like Helgas
*eggs
*chicken kievs (although seemed to hav changed of late)
*potato chips
*domestic wipes
*makeup pads
*organic soy milk ($1 cheaper than woolies, same ingredients!)
*tinned fruit
*mini iceblocks
*toilet cleaner
*juice
*dips
*crackers

lots more but these are the main. Only things I haven't liked is the jif, it smelt really potent, and the dishwashing liquid, it didn't work very well.

P-S being a kindy teacher I have Melanie labels for lunch containers with a teddy bear on them and DH gets to take those for lunch!

I love Aldi. We always shop there now and only go elsewhere for a few bits and pieces and sometimes for fruit and vegies if I don't time my Aldi shop at the right timing for good fruit and vegies,

Esp love

- cleaning products (all of them ) so much cheaper than at other supermarkets esp bleach, toilet cleaner, and washing liquid.

H2B likes their Tuna slices.

They even stock free range eggs (again much cheaper than supermarkets)
