hi all,

i was thinking of getting my auntie to do my make up as i really dont want to spend alot of money on it. i'm not sure if i am just being a cheap ass about it though.

I dont really like how they pack on the make up as i was a bm in my sisters wedding and thats what they did. I dont want my face to look like a clown just want a natural look and for it not to cost hundreds.

Olivia I wouldn't worry too much about having your Aunt do your makeup. If she does it how you want it done then that's all that matters!

I'm sure not all the girls in here have had a professional makeup artist do their wedding makeup!

By all means have your auntie do your makeup, but keep in mind that having it done professionally doesn't always mean that it has to be caked on or cost hundreds of dollars.
The lady that did my makeup charged I think $45 for me and $40 for each of the girls - pretty reasonable I thought. The makeup looked very natural - she did it differently to suit each of us - and it lasted really well all day/night.

Having said all that, there's absolutely nothing wrong with having a relli do your makeup. If you've got someone like your auntie that can do it, it's a great way to save money!

I wouldn't worry about not spending any money. Let you aunty do a trial to make sure you like it. If you do like it, go for it. Spend the saved money somewhere else!!!!!!!

If you are not happy with the result, shop around for a make up artist that isn't expensive. But make sure you have a trial.

Dont stress about your aunty doing the make-up! If you know she'll do a good job it'll save you $$ and you'll be much happier.

I had a make-up trial with a lady that worked out of the salon that did my hair and she was nice but the make-up was awful. I got hime and my Mum thought i hadn't gone to the trial at all - thats how bad she was! I ended up doing mine and my BM's (see http://weddings.agimedia.net for pics) and they turned out lovely. I was worried they'd look washed out in the photos but they all looked gorgeous.

Have a trial with your Aunty first and have a play with any new products or colours and you'll feel much more confident on the day

You still have plenty of time to organise this!

Why don't you get your aunty to do a trial with your makeup and then take some photos. That way you'll "see" what it looks like when its photographed.....

Makeup isn't that expensive in the scheme of things I don't think and its one of those things you don't wanna mess up because you're going to see it in photos, videos etc......

Do what makes you feel comfortable...if your aunty does a good job then let her do it and save yourself a little.....

I agree, have a trial run with your aunty first and if you like what she does then go with that and if not you've still got time to look at other options.
Married 8th October 2005! I will love you today, tomorow, always!

Don't stress too much. I'm not having a professional make-up artist either. At first I didn't want to have much make-up at all but after talking to a few people (make-up artists and stuff) they said to make sure you have a bit on because otherwise you won't see it in the photos.
Obviously it is up to you what you have for YOUR day but I agree with the others, have a trial run with your aunt and see how you like it!

If you like the way your Aunt does your makeup, then you should go for it. You'll also feel more comfortable because it's someone you know and it'll save you money as well.

You could probably have a trial run first to try a few looks and see which one you like the best smile.gif
