I often wonder about belles portions. she ate a WHOLE banana the other day.

How much does you bub eat at each meal?

laugh.gif @ the whole banana

the girls have anywhere (depending on how 'heavy' the meal is) from 1/3 to 1/2 cup at each meal, snacks vary depending on their mood.

i worry about too much food too - but then again they scream when i do the sign for finished ph34r.gif

Bonnie was eating poorly, but now she seems to be getting the hang of it.

-She eats hardly any breaky (maybe a little fruit and rice cereal if I am lucky).
- Then for lunch she is eating 1 ice cube of meat and 5-6 of veg (I think that would be about 1/2-3/4 cup).
- Then at dinner she has 5-6 veg and some fruit afterwards.

At both lunch and dinner she also has some finger foods to eat/play with but not much goes in... though she eats rice crackers after her meal and as a snack like there is no tomorrow. And rice cakes too.

She has been known to eat a whole pear, but it's certainly not the norm!

The banana wasn't a one of thing, she ate two apricots the other day AFTER her lunch. my mum thinks if it's fruit or vegies I should just let her eat as much as she wants, but I worry...
Off the fork she doesn't each much, but if I sit her on the lawn with some fruit she'll eat and eat and eat... I dunno...
emm
depends, how much time does she spend on the treadmill or exercise bike to work it off? laugh.gif

maybe she's a hand feeder and just wants to explore everything? i find the opp atm cause it's a new skill we're discovering textures of food so not much goes in - more interesting to play with it (which i don't mind cause i sneak stuff in them when they're playing around laugh.gif)

i know how hard it is to not worry - i have a very negative attitude and unhealthy relationship with food so i don't want the girls to be like me

I understand you don't want to overfeed, but if it's fruit or vegies I would honestly not worry how much she eats.

My girls have always been encouraged to eat fruit and vegies and they absolutely love it. I've never seen two kids happier to sit down to a bowl of cherry tomatoes, slices of cucumber and cheese cubes, followed up with a fruit salad -- they think it's Christmas! biggrin.gif

I think you are right Sam, she just loves feeding herself.

blink.gif Belle loves her cucumber tomato and cheese mix too laugh.gif

i think I will have to go with mums advice then and if she happy to eat it let her

thanks

My MCHN said meat is to be in portion size (ie: the size of their palm) veggies they can eat as much as they want and fruit is to be portioned also, but I wouldnt be too phased about it - though veggies are the one you want her eating most of.
