Full Version: Champaigne/Ivory Tie with White Shirt?

We bought H2B's tie and hanky yesterday and although I love them I'm a little worried about how it goes with a white shirt. My dress is a ivory/champaigne/light gold colour so thats pretty much the colour tie/hanky we got him.

I dont really like the whole ivory shirt thing because his boys dont have ivory shirts and I dont think we can ask them to buy a shirt ontop of their suit hire (and H2B and I cant afford it either!).

Does it look silly having the ivory tie on a white shirt? does anyone else have any pics they could share if you had this?

I've attached some pics below - I just threw it across a white shirt so excuse the dodgeyness smile.gif

I had a Light Gold Dress so DH had to wear a similar colour tie. We ended up getting him an ivory shirt, as the tie we picked looked odd on a white shirt.

The groomsmen had white shirts but with a silver tie. To be honest, you couldn't really tell the difference between the GMs and DH's shirt. But the tie we had for DH did look better on an ivory/off white shirt than a plain white.

Here are a few pics:

I think you can tell the difference... My dress was champagne colored and both my husband and bestman wore ivory shirts and even my dad wore an ivory shirt..

I'd be going all ivory if I was you but then again its totally upto you tongue.gif

It wouldn't look too bad if he's wearing a vest as well? IMO an ivory tie would look stunning against a black shirt. My h2b is having a black thick pin striped suit, with a black shirt and black and ivory diagonal striped tie smile.gif

i think the difference is noticeable - sorry.

My husband had a tie made of the ivory material of my dress and then he got an ivory shirt to match. I would invest in an ivory shirt.

Our groomsmen had lilac shirts and navy suits so they didn't have ivory shirts either

Hi there,
I have the same advice as Chelley... I was just talking to the guy at Spurling yesterday and he recommended the ivory/cream shirt rather than the white.. which I hadn't thought of.. when he showed them to me side by side he was right smile.gif

I was tossing up whether to hire or not, but then I found a pattern in Lincraft today which has vests, cravats, cummerbunds, bow ties etc... so I'm going to hunt around for a gorgeous fabric in the same colour as my dress (It's champagne.. but a very light champagne.. almost antique cream - like Princess Di's wedding dress colour)
